I currently have a 42 triple lightning. i am thinking about moving up to a 47 with triples. Any thoughts on this move, good or bad.

Depends where you boat. If you are boating in any rougth stuff you will like the extra length and weight of the 47. I got the 47 because I wanted the extra 2 seats. I normally seem to boat with 8-9 people. Check out mine if you are interested.
