Default New cockpit cover snaps?

My snaps for the cockpit cover are geting harder and harder to snap and are starting to rust a little. Any one know where to find new ones? Maybe direct from fountain? Havn't called around yet. Thanks for any help

Try lubricant first. If you need to buy, West Marine should have them. Easy to replace if needed.

those snaps are stainless steel. If you want to buy new snaps buy DOT Fastners. They are the absolute best. You can buy them on line just google them or at your local West Marine.

I use silicone spray lubricate inside the female half. Dries with no residue. Usually the reason for them being difficulty to work is the spring wire gets sticky and is resistant to spread open easliy. Try some lube 1st. I've heard of some people using Chap Stick....never tried that myself.

On a side note I lost a snap on the hull, and can't find a replacment with the screw big enough as the original. Any suggestions? Dont mean to steal the thread...

99fever27 - cut a hanger and use it to feed some 5200 into the hole. Buy a new snap and put some 5200 on the screw and on the flat part that sits against the boat. Use the fast cure - red stuff. Wipe off the excess with acetone. Little spit goes a long way when workin with this stuff. That worked for me and that sucker is still hangin on tight.
