Re: Tow vehicle 35 EX

So what is everybody's thought of pulling a 29 Fountain with a 1998 F-150, 4x2 4.6L... Assuming the trailer brakes were working correctly?

Thanks,

Tom

I would be ok with it as long as electric brakes were on the axels with an adjustable brake controller. Sounds ok but I'm sort of a big truck type of guy.

Make Sure you at least put some light truck (LT) tires on it with some good stiff sidewalls......not the wimpy P rated tires they come with......then try it

Re: Tow vehicle 35 EX

Yesterday I was boating in Lake Havasu, AZ. I currently have a 32' Spectra, I just bought a 35 Lightning, but don't have it yet, it is being shipped to the west coast from FL. I usually tow the Spectra with a Chevy 3500 long bed extended cab 4x4 single wheel pickup. It is very stable and does a good job, the boat and trailer weigh 10,500 pounds. Yesterday I used my 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive Suburban to tow to the launch ramp. The Suburban was very unstable and didn't feel good at all. I didn't think there would be such a difference, but there definately was. I know that the axle to hitch distance on the suburban is longer than on the truck and that makes a big difference on stability.
