Expensive Date

After next season I want a 35 EX I currently have a 292 Fastech weighs about 7200lbs +trailer.I tow this with a Nissan Titan with no problems.Any one towing a 35 with a Titan?
Will have an aluminum Myco.
Just want to know if I have to change trucks before the move.Thanks

i would not hook a 35 to a 1/2 ton truck . of no kind pulling it is not the problem ,, stoping it if your trailer breaks fail . it will push you allover the road . you need a truck that can handel it. 3/4 to 1 ton .i have a ram2500ctd 4x4 and love it would not have anything elese . i had 14k be hind it 2 month ago . the trailer breaks failed and the dodge handel it real well. no problems .

Even a 3/4 can have a hard time look at a HD ford /Chev or Dodge Would not go with anything less!Been pushed sideways on a off ramp with a 35 with bad breaks!

Towed a 35 Lightning twin step on an aluminum Myco behind a 2500HD extended cab 4X4 with gas motor. It was marginal at best. Towed the same boat behind an F350 dually 4 door 2 wheel drive with diesel and it was like night and day. Issue wasn't the ability to pull (well, a little bit of an issue) or stopping, but the stability of the boat/truck combo. When a tractor trailer passed us with the boat behind the 2500HD, you definitely knew it. Same situation with the dually, and you didn't even notice. Not saying the 2500HD with single rear wheels was bad, just not what I would want to use for trailering a 35 all of the time. Not sure if having the diesel in the 2500HD would have made a lot of difference. We sold the 35 and now tow a Formula 292 behind our 2500HD and it works great. No issues at all!

35 weighs what 7500 + trailer? If you're ok now, doesn't seem like much diff....If you do keep Nissan, get air bags for rear.

Auminum Myco Tandem axle weighs 2100 lbs, per the MCO on ours. Add that to 7500 for the boat, 700 lb for fuel (roughly 100 gallons), another 200lb for "other stuff" and your about 10,500 lbs. Thats quite a bit for a 1/2 ton truck and even "getting up there" for a 3/4 ton truck with a ball hitch ... Not that it can't be done, just wouldn't want to do it a lot. The aluminum trailer under our 292 weighs 1400 lbs and the boat weighs 7000 lbs. We are right at the ball hitch limit for our 2500HD, without load distribution bars. Yeah, our truck can tow 12,000 lbs, but that is with bars per Chevy's owners manual. Saying it can tow 12,000 lbs is a little misleading, without reading the fine print!

The only reason I refer back to this is that there was a rather long thread not too long ago about towing over the "rated capacity" of your truck. That was rather scary. It would only take the insurance company about two seconds to conclude that you "exceeded the mfg'rs stated limits" and wash their hands of any coverage, claiming "owner negligence". In the event of something tragic, whether caused by me, or just me being "involved" in it, I simply can't afford that! That is what scares me the most.

Thanks. Will probably start looking for a used dually and use that just for a tow vehicle and keep the Nissan.I don't tow that often as I leave it at the marina(lift off) but I want to be able to if I have to. Thanks Again

this is a much more realistic estimate of the wieght.......my old 29 with twins with steel trailer, fuel and all our stuff for a weekend wieghs 9400......

I Prefer a 4x2 1ton dulley with a powerstroke for pulling. My 1/2 ton suburban pulled my 32 fever ok but not well. Your titan will pull your 35x but how well and how safely is the question. You really should have no less than a 3/4 ton vehicle with a little more hp. I was in a jam a couple of wks ago at the ramp and had to use my Tahoe to get my 38 out. It worked but luckily I did not have to get on the highway with it. You need a 3/4 ton to do it safely.

I have a 2500 4 door cummings 4x4, it is a lease truck and has 45,000 miles on it . the lease is up and I would like to sell the truck and get another instead of letting it go back. it looks and drives as good as new. Dodge that is , if it might fit your needs. It tows my 35 fountain just fine.
