Re: insurance

Fountains are on the insurance blacklist or the do not quote list just like most or all of the powerboats on here, yet everyone else seems to obtain insurance through conventional ways. Check with progressive- they have been insuring me for years and there prices are reasonable if you have a good driving record and you are of age. Others will chime in here real soon. There is a way don't worry. Consider it done.

Re: insurance

State Farm also agreed to insure a new 42 fountain for me.. I had them call the underwriter to make sure. (ended up buying a cig and they wouldn't do it)

I think your agent isn't going to bat for you. I had a house, condo, 3 cars and liability policy with them (still do) and have known my agent for 15 years personally, that may have had some impact also.

Out of Pasadena MD - used to be called Pasadena Boatell - New owners call it Atlantic Marine Resort, although I dont recall any hotel facilities on ther property. Usual hangouts - Kent Narrows, Red Eye dock bar, St Michaels, West River, South River, Annapolis, Middle River, Wild Duck, Fairly creek. I tend to stay out of the Inner Harbour since there is something nasty floating just below the surface in every square inch of the place. Do you make it down this way at all?

I had a 29 Outlaw and I can honerstly say that, that is not a performance boat. I had to tighten my teeth every time I got back. Although it did have some good looks.

My girlfriend is an underwriter for state farm and she said no problem. However she said it does vary from state to state. Progressive wont insure you if your boat goes over 70!!! I had a claim 2 years ago and the called to the factory for some info and found out the boat went over 70. they covered my clain then dumped me like a bad habbit!!!

If there is anybody who would like a boat, auto, home, life or health insurance quote and you live in MN please let me know. My sugar mama works for State Farm and she is cutting my gas and beer allowance off if I can't get her some buisness.

Heater - if you run into a real problem send me a PM so I can give you my Allstate agents number. My boat runs 80 and I got a top of the line policy with a low deduct for $870 - no lay up.

I just bought a 2000 Lightning and I called my Allstate broker, I have had Allstate for 15 years and always had 2 or more boats on my policy. They were very co-operative, quoted me $750 for $115K hull with $1K deductable. I could have had what ever deductable that I wanted, the price went up or down accordingly. Since I have never had a claim I went for the higher deductable.

I insured my 27 and my 35 with State Farm. Never had a problem, but I do have all my other stuff with them. They never asked speed but were interested in the hp.

I insured my 27, 32, 35, with State Farm. I do have my Home and Auto with them also. All they ever asked for was a picture of the boat. I always wondered If their was a serious accident, if they would try to find a loophole to get out of paying the claim. 35 years of boating and no claims. I cant believe their coverage varies that much state to state. Speed, size, value, all factors. Dont the same underwiters write the policies? Went with Total Dollar on my 38. Yes I pay more, but the last thing I want is to fight with my insurance co., if their is a serious problem. If you misrepresent anything about your boat, you really dont have insurance when you need it the most. They will get out of paying the claim.

Good luck with your 27. Had a 98 with a 500 H.P. The boat got small real quick. Looked like the Queen Mary when we bought it. Its amazing how they shrink when you put them in the water. Saw some of your posts on Speedwake. Did you put the Harley away for the winter?

I also have Statefarm for my house and vehicles, and they flat out told me no! It must be different here in Oklahoma.

Marc - glad to see that it s working out. I did'nt think it would really be that much of an issue. The are a lot of 496 27s running around and they all got insurance. I have my house, cars and boat with Allstate with very little claim history, perfect driving record, credit score and im 47 and married. All these factors come into play when they price this stuff out.

Let us know how it works out.

i had my 35 w/them, called today on a 98 42 fountain and the lady called the underwriter and said the fountain won the speed record and they wouldnt insure the fountain now, thats with state farm.

US1 Fountain 03-03-2008 08:55 PM

Did you tell them that's sweet, but that isn't the boat you are going to be insuring?

God forbid they watch any NASCAR races. They'll drop everyone but Yogo.

266ltd 03-03-2008 08:56 PM

i have american family insurance. they did't care about speed, size, brand, and i dont have any thing else with them! i also have lost my license due to 2 many speeding tickets and have had a few fender benders. no one, i repeat, no one, would insure me, they did, i have a 2000 32 fountain fever w/502's and they said yes no prob. while they were looking at my driving record that goes back alot further than i thought.
