Must've had Herring 6 bladers on it to run those speeds. I drove the one that Shogren had this past june, and with 5 people, full of fuel, we seen 115 @ 5350 rpm. The only problem we had was that we could'nt trim the drives out without losing water pressure. 2 on the indicators was all that we could go.
I was kinda impressed on the speed of a 38 with 700's.

I love those speeds in the 38..however....the cockpit is so small. There is a pic of the shogren 38 along side of downtowns42 and the 38 look tiny. But holy crap....if you would have told me 2 years ago that these boats were going to be running these speeds I would have told you tha you were on the crack!!!! I love it!!!! My friend had a 42 in 96 and it had trip merc 600's and that boat was bad ass for the day. 100 to 104 on a good day. In 96 we passed everything on the water with the excption of the gas pumps.

Thats the thing, Fountains are so small for their size except for the 42 and the 47. You cant compare the size of this 38 Fountain to Joe's 39 Cig. You could fit the Fnt inside the Cig. Even by it being a tiny boat, those speeds are great for only having twin 700's. Those Fountain hulls really perform well. The race style bow rail doesnt look good at all to me. Get rid of them all together.

Re: 38 Fountain with 700's

You think that one was Fast the newest one with CUSTOM BLUE PAINT RAN 116.2 MPH the NorthStar GPS with Smart Craft integration is great!!!!!!

If you are tired of those standard Fountains Come see www.fountaindealer.com we build them all Different than are competitors any one can sell them for cost but we make them one of a kind and give you all the money for your trade.

Look the 6 Drives did no add any speed but its 100% safer and you Don't Loose Water Pressure. I was in both boats when they ran and they both had lots of fuel and over 1000lbs People You can not ask for a better feel than 116+ in a V with a full Year Warranty and Bullet PROOF 6 Drives DRIVES.

Re: 38 Fountain with 700's

The 42 we have in stock with 700's ran about 108mph with NXT Fountain picked it up and are putting 6 drives on it now so who knows what it will do now.

It was a blast 107.8 MPH + Full Fuel + Temp 100+ and 5 big guys :evilb:

We worked with Merc Racing today trying some new tricks on the 42 with 700's. We ran out of daylight so we will be testing in Lake MI tomorrow. Unfortunately we had to break some ice in the harbor today to get the boats out that we tested with Merc. We will have one of them at the Chicago Show in Jan.

My fountain dealer has a 06 38 used with 600's for sale because the guy did not think it was fast enough and he ordered a 38 with 700's. It should be in soon.

That would be why we keep the transoms of most Fountains very plain. We are all concerned about the retinas of our Formula bretheren.

Since we're now talking true LOA to LOA.... What happened? Right out of the box, with the engines/drives still tight, we got 94 MPH,in flat, calm, no wind water (Oh, and that was with 4 guys in the boat)?

Seriously, no slamming here... I truly expected to see the 42 run much faster. Was that at WOT, 5400 RPM's?

Re: 38 Fountain with 700's

I compare the 38-39 Cigarette's to a 42 Fountain as well. I've been on both boats and a 42 Fountain overall size of boat (cockpit, cabin, depth, wetted hull running surface size) is more simular to a 38-39 Cig than the 38 Fountain is.

So it seems like the 39 Cig's are running the same speed now as a 42 Fountain?

Here's a pic of the tattle-tale on my 600 boat (first run --- it's so tight when you spin the prop w/ your hand it immediatly stops! ). So, we're expecting 1-2 MPH more, before changing anything.

Running on 5 blade Max's.

I agree same boat basically. 42 Weighs 10300 prob heavier than Gun. But Joe has good speed. BLee 650 Zuls ran 92 in older Gun. 38 F is faster for sure but smaller than Gun. Joes boat is mint and I would love to have it. A new 42 F with 850's and 6's prob is the same money and I think I'd try that first.

Don't start with the persnickety behavior again. I'll have to give my X-mas money to AFR and Al, and I promised Samantha I'd finish the house first.
