I like the Eddie Marine or Dana drive showers...that chrome cap just look too cool to get anything else.

I used the Simrek too and it cured the white on the drive. Simrek is not the best looking or bling bling of showers but they only one I've seen that really works.

However when you talk to Mercury they say there is no need for a cooling drive shower and if they thought the drives needed cooling Mercury would engineer a drive shower into the drive. Also notice that any of the new drives that have come out in the past few years do not have a drive shower. Mercury does not even offer a shower as an accessory.

Funny they say that when your drive cap is as white as a chalk board....and your oil boils over. Leave it up to OEM to keep people coming back.

Never had any white chaulking on my last 2 boats before the shower install, but installed them anyways. I like the looks of them.

I only use the Simrek Halos. Seen 1st hand how much water is forced on the drives. Such a simple peice of hardware. Polished them to a mirror finish before installing them though.

Of course they say a shower isnt nessesary!!.......then they would be admitting theres a problem......and they would have a million guys sending them their repair bills from overheated drives......Id be one of them

and like was said you spend 100 - 200 gs on a boat and you wont pony up 200 bucks for some cheap drive insurance......okaaaaaayyyyy

On the flip side, if Merc thought they were needed but didn't install them, they would be gambling on waranty claims.
