Been boating since 90. Only experience is we put on a set for free and it slowed our race boat down 2 MPH. took them off and got the 2 back. Never had a problem racing for 6 years without them and have a 29 with twin 502s and a 35 with 525s and NEVER had a problem. Roger

You would be incorrect, but thats ok. I can understand why you and others may think that..

If you follow someone sometime watch the water coming out of the exhaust when planed off or running off of idle. Your exhaust's water stream will fall a few feet behind the drive..

Any water that may get on it from the exhaust wont helo anyway for a few reasons. The water coming out of the exhaust is not cold, the water that may get on the drives from the exhaust is not consistant & there would not be enough water going on to them to make a difference. The drive shower keeps a constant bath of cool water on the upper housing..

I hope this helps to explain what, why & how.. :) Jamie / Lakeside

Thanks fo the explanation.

Yea Gary I hear you - really dont want to take a drill to my cav plates - they look so purdy the way they are. Lavorsi does have one that fits our steering - just screw it in the top hole and get out the drill. Lavorsi also has an upper case temp guage. I believe it screws into the upper case filler vent
