29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
been meaning to bring this up for awhile.......am I the only one that has to lift the nozzle all the way up in the gas filler and hold it there to be able to put the nozzle trigger full open........ so you dont have to stand there for an hour to gas up on "half throttle"
anyone have that problem and fix it.......could the hose from the filler neck to the tank be kinked?? |

Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
Dats a Fountain. :)
Gotta fill slowly too. Other wise it pours out the vent. On land, I listen very close for it to gargle, then go slower for the next 25 gals. I can see both of my hoses going to the tank. No bends, kinks, nothing. |
Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
Funny this is brought up. I picked up my first fountain today. 88 Fever 27 and trying to fuel I could only get a max of $10 in trying to pump "normal". The gas guy said that it must be full and the gauge is off. I ended up climbing into the boat, then I had to hold it at an extreme angle to get the fuel to go in at all. I was able to keep it full on for a total of 88 gallons. ($200) I wish the attendant was right sometimes.
We did notice that there is a rather sharp bend when the nozzle goes in. If the on land pump didn't have the black spring loaded plastic piece I believe it would have been fine. |
Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
I call on my secret powers of insertion :D and find the "sweet spot" so I can run the pump wide open. When I hear Obi Won inside my head, I reduce the flow on the pump one notch. When I hear Yoda say, "Full, almost, the tank is!", I put it on the slowest speed. I get a little bit out of the vent, but nothing the little window washer squeege can handle............May the Force be with you!!!:evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
I have to fill it up on the water and man what a pain in the but. Thing sprays gas out the vents and spits back at you. Reggie could have done a better job on the tanks, vents, whatever. Also gas guage reads pegged on full for 4 hours of ruinning time and then starts bouncing of empty like immediately.

Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
Around where I boat (inland lake) you DO NOT want to fill in water if at all possible. 3/4 of the season it was $4.69/gal for 89. This year..who knows
|
Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
My 29 is the same way. So far I am the only one on our lake who can fill it up in less than an hour. There is a sweet spot where you can run it wide open but it is hard to find. The girls at the local gas dock hate to see me pull in. They know they are going to be there a while.

Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
I have the same probem too.
|
Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
My 27 has the exact same problem. It took one time ( ok maybe two) where I had a truck full of girls and a cooler full of beer, and I got sprayed at the gas pump. That's when I learned that being 30 and having temper tantrums at the gas station was not attractive to women.

Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
my 35 and the 42 does same thing. Even at slow it will still bubble out when full. Sure would be nice to let her rip and not worry about it.

Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
Same problem here! We're moving the fuel vent lines into a burp chamber away fron the fill nozzle. We're also cutting the deck and mounting some adult sized fuel fills facing upwards instead of the goofy angle they are now.

Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
What octane do you guys use? I'm not sure what I will be using. 93 right now for winter.
|
Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
You guys all have to buy a 47. My buddy's will take it wide open in all three tanks and it even starts to gurgle before you need to shut it off. But then there's that 1000 dollar credit card stub at the end :(

Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
When I got my new 38TE I had the dealer take it across the street to fill it with gas. It's a 300 and 125 gallon tanks. Gas at the BP station was 2.50 something and on the water at the marina it was 3.69. It took many pump reset's and about a good 45min to fill. Small station with a lot of pzzed of cars pulling in and waiting.

Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
Same problem with my 35. In order to set the nozzle at full, I have to twist it backwards so the back of the trigger is touching the upper gunnel. I then proceed to thickly paper the entire area around the filler cap with about 50 sheets of the station's paper towels. This catches the fuel that spews out prior to the auto shut off. Then it's just a simple matter of wadding up the towels and throwing them away. However hard I try, I just don't have that "Yoda" sense to tell when it about to blow.
I fill mine up at 4:00 in the morning (160 plus gallons) just before the hour and a half drive to the ramp. Much easier to maneuver around the pumps that way... |
Re: 29s.....problems getting fuel in.....
Had this same issue on both our 27 Fever and 29 Fever. Both were equally as bad. On the 29, even if you only heard it gurggle out the vent, after you were completely done fueling, closed the cap and leaving the gas station, it looked like a NASCAR pit stop event with gas gushing out the vent as you started off down the road  Our 35 twin step didn't seem to have that problem, but, just like others have said, with 2 fills and each on opposite sides of the hull, i would park in the middle of the gas islands and fill one from each side, at the same time. :D
