I will have some good numbers by this weekend. One of the drives broke putting it into gear. We got to aprox 107 MPH @ 5000 RPM and it had me pinned in the seat! I didnt get to top it out. Im spinning the motors to 5800 so hopefully I get to strech it out in a few days!

another guy just broke his drive putting in gear. A 38? with blowers/ surge.

jryan26 05-17-2007 09:13 AM

I think its the same guy.

JBergstrom777 05-17-2007 04:09 PM

Yup its me.....I also talked to the engine shop that dynoed and tuned my motors, he is going to try and get some of the surge out of them.

I got to run my boat all day without problems! Well, somewhat. I didnt break down! I got up to 115 MPH @ 5500 RPM and my fuel pressure was dropping so I backed out. I replaced my mechanical fuel pumps with new 172 GPH pumps and running around all day was fine except when I tried to top it out. I made several 110 MPH passes but when I stayed in it to find out how fast it was going to go my fuel pressure dropped to around 4 PSI @ 5500 RPM so I backed out. I have 1/2" fuel lines and 172GPH mechanical pumps, what should I do from here? I'm assuming the higher the RPM @ WOT the more fuel its requiring and I am coming up short?

I would think about going with electric pumps and a return line, also what size is your tank pickup?

Had a great time this weekend with you all. Your boat ran and looked GREAT....congratulations.!!!! I would suggest electric fuel pumps for that size engine.

How is the new truck?!?!:evilb:

Jonathan

They are going to check the pick ups in the tanks, I hope thats the problem, that would be an easy fix if they are accessable. Oh yeah, we had to buy a new truck on the way home from Hartwell Saturday evening........The turbo blew and I said F$$$ THIS so we traded it in blown up!!! Love it so far Jon.......havent got to put many miles on it though....ha ha....

a couple of years ago i drove jerry sorintino's 35 fountain. i think it was a 97 or 98 single step with about 650 horse that teague setup. it ran just shy of 100 and was just as rock solid as my 38. i would love to see how a 35 with 900 horse would run

JBergstrom777 05-22-2007 06:37 PM

There was some people who said it was too much and others said you could put more, but it felt great @ 115 MPH. It didnt do anything crazy and felt perfectly as if it was 90 MPH. I feel it will do a solid 120 MPH when then fuel problem is resolved. I also sent my props back, I was running 31 P5X's. Im going with 30 P5x's to get the RPM up a little higher. The motors dont make 900 HP until around 5800 RPM, so thats what im after.

Congrats, sounds like a great combination!

I just allways shifted in the down cycle on mine. But mine would not idle smooth below 1000. It surged from 600-1300.

Congrats on the speed , post some picks :drink:
