Default 89 fountain cost when new....

buddy and i were wondering today out of curiosity what the cost of an 89 lightning 42 would of been roughly back in 89 when they were new, im sure somebody knows or has an old brochure hanging around...

roughly without looking at a old magizine i would say in the
100,000 range list price and probable bought in the 75,000ish with decent power 420's or 575's. At the time there was no others to compare with as far as performance.

In 89, a 12 meter with the 420 package sold for just under 100K. The next power package was the 440 cyclone, then the 475. Most all had TRS drives. If you wanted the SSM drives the price went up about 20K and that included the tranny upgrade.
A very good friend of mine had a Fountain dealership from 88 to 92, and this is what he told me.

According to ABOS 2007 Marine Blue Book,

1989 Fountain 40 Lightning Original MRSP was $153,634 with twin 420 hp engines.

42 Lightning isn't listed until 1991,

twin 425 hps MSRP was $182,579

A dealer where I live at had one 12 Meter back in 89 with 420's and had it price at 130k
