Default Anchor for my 38 Lightning

I recently purchased an '01 38 lightning. The boat has an anchor compartment at the bow. Can anyone tell me the best anchor that will fit in the anchor locker. The one I used on my 35 will not fit.

thanks

Fountain makes there own stainless one that fits in there .
if you look at the back top is a small bracket to hold it in place .
I will look at the shop i may have a New one..

Its been our experience with Fountains anchors, that they do not hold. Use chain, or not. They have trouble hooking in sand, mud, or anything else. You can put out as much anchor rode out as you want. We do alot of anchoring. If it is flat calm you may get it to set. If its the least bit rough, or fast current forget it. If you anchor alot, do your self a favor and get a Fortress, they are pricey, but they will hook everytime in anything. You will have to alter it to make it fit in the locker but it will save you alot of aggravation.

If a Fortress will fit, get it, here is a link to the best price you will find anywhere on them.

If you anchor in mud and sand the light weight Fortress will work great but be sure to have ample chain on it.

On my 38 Lightning, I carry two Fortresses and I am in an area that gets up to 8 kts in current. No problem and one of them fits perfect in my locker hold down in the nose. I wish I could tell you the size but my computer and boat are about 300 yds away.

I love my Fortress FX 16 with 6 feet of chain it quickly disasembles and stores in the step locker. The Fortresses you are able to trim the aluminum bar that runs horizontally so it will fit in almost all lockers. It is light enough so the wife can carry it up on deck and set it, while I have drinks and bark orders to her
