Broke my onboard cooler
I guess I'm too rough on her!!! But I don't want to spend the stupid money for a factory replacement, especially one that just hangs there waiting to break again. I remember people saying that they just put a regular cooler in there and popped a drain in. Any cooler suggesstions???

I purchased a small igloo cooler from West Marine (20-24qt),
along with a piece of white 1/2" starboard and made my own built in cooler.
First remove the cooler hatch/cover, then the cooler and then the starboard trim.
You will need to remove the new cooler handles as well as the drain. The drain hole will need to be enlarged to accomodate the drain fitting and drain hose from the Fountain cooler, this way it drains just like the factory cooler.
You will also need to cut your new piece of starboard to the right size to fit in where you removed the old factory starboard trim piece. You can use the factory one as a template for overall size and hole location, but will need to locate and cut the oppropiate size cut out for the new cooler, this piece only holds the cooler from sliding around.
Once the cooler is done as well as the new starboard trim piece, set them in place. Look under the cooler and measure the space between the cooler bottom and the black plywood Fountain installs, you will need to make a wood brace/spacer which you can screw into place to support the cooler from underneath. I used a piece of 3/4" plywood.
I don't know if my instructions make any sense so I will take some pictures next weekend and post them so you can see the installation.
It looks like it came from the factory and works great, I had it full last summer at the East Chicago poker run and it did not break.
Also, I should be at the Chicago Power Boat run next weekend if you want to see it firsthand.
