New Member with a question

Hey all, I am posting here to get some input on a boat i am interested in purchasing. I have been boating most of my life and have always wanted a Fountain.

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1996 Fountain 27' fever. The boat appears to be very well maintained by the owner and he takes obvious pride in it.

Is there anything i should pay close attention to with this model boat and what is your experience to them.

Thank you

Congrats.....very fun boats. Make sure the motor has been cared for and the bravo drive has been serviced regularly. If its a 415hp you should be around 67-69 mph on gps. Look for stress cracks in the bilge....not that thats an issue, but check never the less. Last, but not least.....have fun.

Great boat, I had one. However, the single engine lacks the
hole shot power to for a quick push over and quick plain
especially when you have a couple of 200 pound people in the
back seats.

Well, I bought the boat and I love it. The engine is a fresh 502 mpi with alittle work. It has Cmi Headers and the boat sounds sick. I really like the way it handles compared to my smaller boat.

I do have one issue though. I take my little guy (17 months) out with me on all of my boats and there is really no good cover for him. The birth is ok, but it gets pretty warm. Now dont laugh, but have any of you put a ... Cough... Bimini top on one of these boats?

What do you think, and if you have done it , how did it look and are you happy with it. I figure I would only use it while rafted up and not while underway.

Thanks

Buy an Anchor shade to use while parked....It goes up easy and stores in the v-berth. check boaters world online.

We have a bimini with full Igenglass front/sides/back for camping. Since my little man was one, we boated exclusively with the Bimini up to protect him. We could run about 60 without it failing, and he is skin cancer free thanks to it.

Thanks for the post's , I definately want to keep my son safe from the sun and heat. I am going to get some good cover for it asap. He just loves being out there and I dont want it to come with a price ( his health) .

I will also post some pics and a vid of the boat very soon. Glad to finally own a Fountain!

Thanks again.
