Oh sorry how stupid of me. How long would the 38 top gun measure if you counted the swim platform? 39'6" or somewhere around there? Park them side by side with the transom's lined up. Like I said, I love Fountains and hopefully a 35 or 38 Lightning will be my next boat. But a 38 Cigarette is longer than a 38 Fountain, Formula, Powerquest or any other 38' boat that measures the platform. Thats not a knock on the builders, just the way the coast guard measures them. Amazes me that so many people have trouble with that concept....

alright, something that is part of the boat, meaning glassed in to the entire hull, is measured into the entire length and come in every single model from the manufacturer.

now, a bolt-on option is not going to ever be considered part of the over all length of a boat by any manufacturer.

take another look at the specs. from the manufacturer links above again!

So if a swim platform is glassed to the boat it makes it longer but if its bolted on its like it doesn't even exist? They serve the same purpose on the boat? Guess it all depends on how you look at it.

So I guess by that logic an 10 meter is 2 feet shorter than a '91 model 35 Lightning? Even though the hull was pretty much exactly the same?

Actually....yes.

Goofy, ain't it!?

As for the 38...if if WAS a 35...it'd be even FASTER...natch.

Our 12 meter lined up with a 42 exactly but the glassed in platform.

I guess I'm just weird. To me a 33 Powerplay or 33 Outlaw is just as long as a 35 Fountain, Formula, Donzi, etc. My 29 Outlaw is approx 2' longer than a 29 Fountain or Formula. But hey, look at it however you want, no sweat off my ass. To each his own.

Concept counts the bolt on swim platform. I guess my 28 is a 30 and my 26 is a 28.
