My concern with cheaper premiums/smaller carriers is what happens when claim time comes. YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR
in the insurance biz. like most of us I would prefer to have
insurace and never need it! But if a claim does occure I would
like to have the piece of mind in knowing that I am doing
bussiness with a lagit company.

Insurance companies big or small are in business to make MONEY, piece of mind doesn't exsist, they make money by not giving it to you the policy holder. when you get sued they don't even have to pay to fight for you, they can walk away and make you sue them.

Carder,

You better do some double checkin' quick. I was going to go through SAFECO with the EXACT same boat. They quoted me the exact same numbers two weeks before going to pick up my boat. All was good until I got ready to go pick it up, bank release the money. All of sudden, they couldn't find my policy and had misplaced everything they quoted me. They re-submitted only to have SAFECO say they don't insure these boats at those speeds. Then, they trying to "gig" me a cancellation fee

I am looking at a new 08 38Lightning with stag 525. We are close to the right numbers on the boat. However, the insurance may be a deal breaker. The best I can find is 6300 a year with NO WINDSTORM coverage. Marine Underwriters offers windstorm with a 3% deduct for a wopping 12K. The insuarnce companies are slowly bleeding us dry down here on the Gulf Coast. we are paying more and getting less!

Call Stacy at Empower Insurance. Here is the number to the Arizona office where she is at, they advertise in Speedwake. Tell her I told you to call. They go through a company called Admiral Reliable. I have the same engines but probably less value at $3800 per year with wind coverage. High deductible though, but I figure the savings is worth it.

I will give them a call, I let you know. I did notice when I was on their site that when it came to selecting the region of the
country where you boat the GULF COAST was not on the list.
everybody is afraid of a little wind

Thanks

There was a person that stated what he paid for his boat for insurance on this thread and then I looked at his Avatar and saw he said his boat had WHIPPLES. Not a good idea to say what your boat is isured for, then BOAST about what modification you have done to the boat. Some isurance companies scan websites.

I love boating on the inland lakes, you guys pay much less
with regard to insurance. over the past 2-3 years all the
insurance companies down here on the gulf coast are worried.
It not only affects our boats but are houses and business to.
If you live within 25 miles of the water(that means inland bays) your home/business will end up in the state windstorm
pool. Their fore, I will start Lobbying the state and push for a windstorm pool for boats (yea right). The insurance companies are minimizing their risk/exposure at the same time increasing costs and we are paying more and getting LESS. Lord only knows whats going to happen if/when
claim time comes around!
