I am looking at both of these boats, in the 2002-2005 range. Any thoughts on the better ride? Better handling?

I like the formula, except for headroom/shorepower, but am concerned about how a 29 rides w/ a stepped hull.

(I am trading down from a 38 Powerquest Avenger)

I've never been in the formula, but if you've had a 38, that's a huge step down in terms of length. I had a 342 and absolutely loved it. It would max out around 72 and cruise there all day. It had plenty of room. If you're going offshore, a 29 may be a little small.

I had a friend with a 312 Formula and the offshore ride was really rough. REALLY rough. Slammed on most waves. I wonder if the 29' wouldn't be as bad or worse. And see message above.
