42 non step how fast should it be?

How fast should a 42 flat bottom with 525sc's 8lbs of boost with super chillers, and bravo drives be? 70mph seems slow?

Single With Twins 07-17-2007 01:49 PM

not far off probably, 70-73mph depending on fuel, air temp etc......just my guess.

GCAT911 07-17-2007 04:26 PM

No doubt south of 80mph on a good day

Is this a twin for that low of a speed?

A buddy has a stock triple 525SC 42' that runs 94. Boat has the small steps.

PokerFace23 07-31-2007 06:20 PM

i saw an apache (i think 42 footer) running 90 in offshore 4-8 seas without a stepped hull. not sure how much hp though

Downtown42 07-31-2007 08:01 PM

lots, bag fulls.

PokerFace23 12-20-2007 05:38 PM

Herring props claim that there props add an extra 4mph (i think) to your top end.:party-smiley-048:

Joetool 12-20-2007 07:54 PM

I have an old school 40 with twin 800hp with Konrad drives running so far 84.5 on gps still testing out props.

Have you seen the apache from back in the day on youtube. Its awesome, Ben Kramer And Bob Saccenti are in 4 to 8's

4-8's, big deal...Thats every day up here....we run like that all weekend long.

OL40SVX 12-21-2007 08:25 PM

Thats a big difference between a 4ft wave to an 8ft one!

PokerFace23 12-21-2007 09:11 PM

lol... when we offshore fish in the rough stuff they had reports of 7-12.. But the commentator said that " i believe its anywhere from 4-8.. still 4 footers can suck

Thanks PokerFace, I actually had it saved under my favorites. Too bad they eventually broke down and lost the lead. True offshore is a real kidney buster...

PokerFace23 12-23-2007 02:42 PM

my kidneys would explode if i was in that boat after that wave that they caught that wave and nearly flipped..

smokin' joe 12-23-2007 11:02 PM

Yeah they were probably pissin' blood after that one...

Interesting video... two different events, same driver and throttleman, (same boat, different paint?).

First segment looks like bigger conditions, and the throttleman is taking a more conservative trim approach; drives tucked in some, and probably some tab as you can see the bow digging in more. Yet they broke the boat, and with that water, I'm guessing a drive.

Second segment, a little flatter and the throttleman has it hung out, positive trim, probably no tab at all. Then they do the classic "launch off of wave #1, trip on wave #2, and stuff into wave #3."

It's interesting that with conservative trim and in bigger water, they're still making 90mph. That's what happens when you combine Kramer, Saccenti, and a 41 Apache. That video is a lesson on how to Git 'er Done.

Thanks for sharing.

Second vid, if they hit the trim switches, it would kill the ignitions, so they could'nt touch the trim, just set it and go. Anyway, that's what Tommy Evans told me, he was in the boat throughout their reign.
