I did the intercom install, its fairly easy, Providing you are
comfortable with drilling holes in your boat. You run the cables and head set connections to the suitable places. Route the cables back the cabin where the amp/controller should be located. Obviously you have to make a cut-out for the controller, its not very big. Route a + & - from a nearby accy, patch in a single channel for the FM/AM/CD radio and thats it. When not speaking in duplex to your buds you can listen to music. The music is however mono, its not the greatest sounding. When someone speaks it cancels the music out so the com is clear. I put a switch on my dash where I can quick cancel the music in case the need arises, like a massive ship wake.

Not to get you scared but my center 525 on my 2005 47 did the same thing. CMI was standup and fixed for free like they did for you. That lasted about 25 hours and then the motor seized when they leaked real bad the next time. So i got to rebuild the motor and buy new headers.

I heard a few months ago that the 525 style headers have a poorly designed collector, but If the exhaust system is supported correctly it hinders cracking in that area.
I would check them twice a season...you don't have to pull them, just plug the hose ends and fill to 30psi and watch for nothing to change on the gauge.

Well-here are some local facts. I have 3 GOOD friends with 2004-2006 42''s-one Lightning, 2 Ex's. All 525's and STOCK. We all run together and have since they have owned them. 1. 42 Ex-new boat, 48 hrs lost an engine due to either reversion or CMI screwup. He is waiting on reimbursement from Merc or CMI. 2. 42 Ex-2004 model with 78 hrs-lost TWO sets of headers and one engine already. CMI paid for one set, Merc the other-then lost another set of headers and is awaiting relief from CMI (who will not answer the phone for past 4 days.) 3. 42' Lightning-he has PROBABLY lost a set of headers at least because -(see below)
HERE IS THE FIRST SIGN- On ALL of these-the oil filter collapsed at least one time before catastrophic failure of an engine. Every time the oil filter has collapsed first and after two of these had blown engines from detonation-the headers were pulled and they were trash. If thats not enough-no one has really owed up except CMI one time on the 2004 42 Ex. The 2006 42 Ex is under warranty but still waiting for $ back (he paid so he did not have to wait so he could be in water). According to my mechanic who we think is god like -every late (2004^) 525 setup he has seen has trashed headers within 1-2 years or less. These are not boat fools who own them. They are seasoned veterans of boat ownership and understand flushing, sealing, and not one of them mis use their boats. I feel sorry for anyone else who has had this problem. CMI has gone underground about it. Would love to hear more input from others

I don't.
Did the oil filter collapse cause a change in oil temp or pressure?
Did they just happen to check the oil filter for some random reason?
Is checking the oli filter for collapse part of the expected pre-start on 525s?
How does an oil filter collapse? Backward flow of oil???
I don't get this at all.
