Winterization/Oil
Within the next few weeks I will be doing a full winterization on my 525SC's. The question is the oil was just changed and it only has 5.5 hours since the last oil change. Should I change it again or will be fine till next spring. Thanks in advance Scott

I would not necessairly change it specially if it is stored in a heated area...
BUT MAN i CAN'T BELIEVE WE ARE ALREADY TALKING ABOUT WINTERIZATION !!! |
I just saw you are in LA so who cares about the heated storage? you guys are always in a heated temperature!

I'll think about in another month. Summer went way too fast.

i agree summer went way to quick. Its goin to be a LONG PISSED OFF WINTR! :D

leave the oil in the motors, change the oil at the begining of the season.that way if any condensation is present from a long winters rest it will be drained out.just my 2cents worth.

you want to change the oil when you winterize it. the hydrocarbons and other contaminates cause the oil to become acidic. acidic oil will etch the babbit off of bearings. ie premature engine wear. food for though.

The attached picture was the only way I could lenghten my boating season. The top is great in the summer. When it is enclosed we can use the boat much later in the season.
It doesn't look that great but it sure is fun. |
Man you winterize your boat in Louisiana I have never winterized none of my boats I have ran on christmas day before I just put a small space heater in my bilge if it gets cold for a night are two.
