Drove the Cat Killer TODAY!!!

I would personally like to thank Reggie Fountain, Wyatt Fountain, Scott Shogren & my friend Chad Knaus for including me in what I consider to be the opportunity of a lifetime. That being a full blown behind the scenes tour of the Fountain facility and the chance to test ride any boat we wanted including the infamous "Cat Killer". When I tell you they rolled out the red carpet for us today I'm not exagerating!!!!

A 300,000+ sq ft operation, employing 300+ people building in excess of 300 boats a year. I have toured several other boat manufacturers in my day but nothing of this magnitude. I think I was the most surprised by the fact that Fountain Powerboats manufactures every component of the boat in house w/ the exception of the engines, drives, gauges & controls.

We spent 6 hrs together touring the facility, meeting the men & women behind the scenes as well as driving several boats.

Cat Killer w/ Twin Sterling 1550's @ 140mph (obviously a Sun PM drive for this boat)

35' ICBM w/ Twin Merc 600's @ 100+mph

47' Lightening w/ Twin Merc 700's @ 90+mph

Being a cat owner currently & having only owned 1 single engine V hull previously I must tell you that I was very impressed w/ the fit, finish, quality, workmanship & handling of these boats.

Thank You Reggie, Wyatt & Scott!

Enjoy the pics!!

Very Cool! How did you happen upon such royal treatment?

talon25 09-19-2007 09:04 PM

Great pic's Nascat, So are you going back to a vee once you sell the 32cs, or were you shopping with Chad?
Looks to be a great facility and it had to be cool hanging with Reggie and running his boats.

Courtesy of Mr. Knaus & his relationship w/ The Fountains & Shogrens!

NASCAT 09-19-2007 09:32 PM

VB- I'm in all day tomorrow then off to Dover, call me at your convenience!

RG3- No Key West for me this year unless I get an invite from someone. Concentrating on a championship!

ILMORdude 09-19-2007 09:34 PM

Hey Nascat, when you and your Hendrick boys coming up to visit us? PS...almost got in busted watching the "big announcement" during work today!!! Haha, couldnt miss it though

Probably missed my window for that opportunity this year since both Michigan races have already passed. 39 weekends of racing doesn't allow much free time.

BTW- Reggie spoke very highly of your powerplants that seem to be propelling him to many wins & possibly a championship across the pond.

PS- you need one of those screen blurrers so only the person sitting directly in front of the screen can see what you are watching. Switch to stealth mode immediatly!

Cool. What exactly is that pic of the harnesses?? Are they all done that way?

Ms PatriYacht 09-19-2007 10:04 PM

can't belive this got moved to the Fountain Forum:(

Had this not been on the main board for a bit I would have missed it.

AF- my understanding is that they have different boards for different model boats. Might be similar harnesses adjusted to the proper length depending on the length.

Ms. PY- I'm thinking if I simply left the thread name & posted some pics it would have survived. The personalized thanks message probably got it moved. To be honest I don't really know what criteria got it moved but I'm sure it will get plenty of exposure regardless.

Awesome day man! Thanks for sharing the pics.

There was an older Yellow Fountain testing but I don't remember the name of it. They were idling in as we were idling out.

Reggie & Scott both mentioned the 32' but we weren't allowed any sneak previews of it.

I appreciate the offer. Reggie extended us an open offer to attend any PR or race he has a boat in so I may just take him up on that one day but as I mentioned HMS wants another Championship & we'd like to see it come out of this shop again.

RG- Are you hijacking this thread?

As for Mr. D. Jr. I'm sure he'll be just fine, they are ramping up next door to make sure they have everything they need to come out of the box strong in 2008.

baja27 09-20-2007 08:22 AM

nascat thanks for the pics , very cool

NASCAT, thats a heck of a chance to drive Rio Roses. awesome. :D:D thanks for sharing.

by the way, i dont believe "Fever" is a Fountain. maybe im wrong.
