That boat is a dream for me (just can not afford that much ).I also think with the boating market in the shape it is today i can probably steal something for much less.Out of ten boats for sale 5 people dont truely have to sell the other 5 need the money and have to sell.

This was an earlier posting:
"Still, the weight of a Cig is often 30 percent more, and an Apache 50 percent more than a Fountain, so they can subjectively feel much smoother."

Until 5 minutes ago I thought that was true as well. I wanted to see what the weight differences actually were so I went to their websites and found this:

42' Fountain weighs 11,400 lbs
42' Cigarette weighs 10,800 lbs
42' Apache weighs 11,850 lbs

46' Cigarette weighs 12,800 lbs
47' Fountain weighs 16,500 lbs

Anyone else completely surprised by these numbers? I know I am.

Good luck with your boat search REDDEATH! I do agree that the narrow 8ft beam of a Cigarette will provide you with a smoother ride than the wider beam boats as well. Although I am in upstate NY now, I grew up at the Jersey shore and still boat there a few times a year. A few years back we had a 33' Baja and we'd run in Barnegat Bay and out of Barnegat inlet and back in Manasquan Inlet...lots of fun but a bigger boat would have been better! The inlets and the seas in the Atlantic can certainly get the best of you.

Thanks,
Mike

I don't think a 47 lightning weighs that much. I have a 47 sport cruiser, which is the same hull with a bigger deck , triples, loaded cabin, and a generator and it weighs about 15K on a scale (dry)

What's the difference between a 47 and 48 Express cruiser hull?

The 47 sport cruiser is discontinued. It was basically a 47 lightning hull with a much taller deck and sides for 6'3" cabin height. The 48 express is a 12' beam so it is basically not trailerable. Mine trailers well and has a lot of cabin room for an offshore boat.

Hey guys,

I know this is WAY off topic, but how do you quote someones previous posting in your post. I've tried clicking on the quote message in reply area with text highlighted and not highlighted but nothing happens.

Thanks for your help,
Mike
