Default 35 Fountain with shorties

Anybody run them on a straight bottom 35 Ex.? The boat has 600sc's with B-Max uppers. Just wondering since it needs new lowers if shorties would benefit it.

I would think so. I believe it adds 4-6 on a single step.

What about the twin step lightnings? i have an '01 35' and thought it would help me but just don't know for sure. anybody tried it on that hull? What is the optimum x-dim or how about the optimum from the bottom of the hull to the prop shaft measurement. That may be a little more universal.

Like Jryan26 said - 4 to 6 is a good estimate. Maybe a little more with the right prop combo.

one certain way of knowing is to look and see how many if any holes for the side water intakes are pluged from the factory. this will give you an idea of how short you may be able to go. ofcourse ther is much more, but this will help as -1 or -2 or if your runing round 90 then maybe just the more hydrodynamic standard length case , either mercury or imco.. which will also increse speed.

We're looking at minus 2 with B-Max's and Crescent lowers on some built Merc 600sc's. The boat was running at 107mph gps before with the old B-max's and standard xr lowers. I've heard the Imco case works really well too.

That's a real good speed for a straight bottom with 600's. How much hp do you think you are pushing? I chose the Imcos -2. They have worked well with my application.

What does the plugged holes tell you? I was thinking of getting some shorter drives, and I have some holes plugged from the factory. Never knew exactly why they were plugged.
