I Got The 29 Fever
#4
Congrats on your choice...the 29' is a great boat from what I hear. Fountain is the best period. I would think the 29' carries the bow pretty well..especially with that power...more should chime in. Welcome to the family!

Thanks for the welcoming 99! the boat currently has a imco-2 shorty lower 1.5-1 It does 82mph gps all day@ 6000rpm I played with a standard bravo lower and managed to pull 89mph but it runs bow down severely! Im putting a stellings extension box on and with the imco-2 lower hopefully this will give me more leverage and get the bow up. I need a prop with more pitch i think maybe a 29LH.

I always thought that Hydromotive props give rear lift which would put the bow down. Try a Mercury prop and see if it helps. I run 95 with a standard drive and 750hp in my 27 and the 29 should be faster. Especially with a 2" shorter and a 5 blade. Should be close to 100 if not more IMO.

From what im told the stepped hull likes a lower x dimension I think thats why it likes the standard lower unit and runs faster, the p5x-26 is supposed to be a bowlift prop as for top speed i think my prop slip is out of control 30%or worse OUCH! but with the box im hoping for 95mph or better with the right prop.

I would think that an extension box would slow you down. It has for every boat that I have seen it on. It really does help with stability though. Most of the boats I am referring to were cats. 2" shorty might be too high. Try to put a spacer in and run the 5 blade.

I have run the -2 imco lower with a 2" spacer (factory X dimension 19.5") running the same hyro5 blade prop but the boat likes so much positive trim that the nose cone on the imco lower drags because its pointing downward so severely that it causes the boat to loose speed.
