What is the dry weight on a 2008 staggered 35' vs a staggered 38'? Lets say they have have 525 efis.

Is that a net weight with fuel? Your numbers are the same ones I was given but they seem high to me. A 36' baja outlaw has a dry weight of 8300 lbs. To me fountains are known for their state of the art ventilated hull along with lightweight modern materials and that is why they are so darned fast.

I would assume they would be close in weight to each other because parked next to each other they line up exactly from the windshield to the transom. I suppose vacuflush and stuff adds a little weight, but I really thought they would be in the 8k's.

The reason for my question is I was checking them out @ a boat show and the sales guy couldn't really give me a difinitive weight or weight difference between the two.

These weights are listed on the Fountain site as the "dry weight", no fuel, no gear, just the fully rigged boat.

My 93 35 Lightning was 7500. Hard to imagine another 2000 lbs?

My '99 showed as 7600 dry the same as the new Executioner, the catalog shows my '06 Lightning at 8600 dry weight. My only guess here is that the staggered set up adds weight, jack shaft, extra rear mount etc, and the new style cabin has got to add some as well. The 900 lbs more than my side by side set up with the prior cabin is believable. The engine compartment also must have a different stringer configuration to carry the staggered engines. It all adds up, little by little.

Fountain has raised the estimated dry weights of their boats on the website significantly in the last year. I don't know why. It may be that they underestimated before and have reweighed them. I can't imagine that the new hull designes and materials have added that much weight (over 3000lbs on a 47 lightning) . If anything, one would think that new materials and technology would result in lower weights!

This is very interesting, also when you look closer on the distance from the bow to the water, the new boats are much lower. It looks like they are heavier than before but why?

38 Lightning has the same heigt from the chine to the rub rail as the 42. The 35 is lower!!
