A friend of mine has a 36 outlaw with a race cabin and stores his boat next to mine in my barn. He knows how to drive it and has twin 700 hp blown motors with imcos (lighter than #6's). He cannot break 100 mph. That setup in a fountain runs 120 with me driving and he's a lot better than me.

I like Fountains. Not bashing them. Just trying to give Roush solid info.

The post was from someone with a custom engine and a big blower. When he said there was a 20 mph difference I think he meant his friend's Baja had similar power. I agree that with 454 mag power there would be little or no difference between the boats but as the power gets bigger, so does the speed difference in the hulls. I think this is an important point for a guy looking at used boats because sometimes the big power doesn't make much of a difference in price.

I've never seen any fountain 35,38,42 with 700 anythings run 120. Lets keep it real here please.

Reality as it may..I paid 28,000 for a 27 fever in excellent condition .It is a 92.
My friend or neigbor has a 03 or 04 Baja 25 that he paid 60 grand for.
His boat runs a little over 60, my boat runs a little over 80. Sorry for all the confusion.
This is a fountain blog though
So get an older fountain like I did and save big money and go fast wiith a Quality boat ..Or not.
not a big deal ..Just what I think.
Simply 1 man's opinion

Im in the same boat im looking into the 25 baja ol and a 27 fountain fever. The baja is nice and its cheaper but so are the amenaties. Fountain Electric Boulsters Baja drop down. Fountain Full Hydraulic steering and Tabs. Fountain has a steped hull and handles better compared to the baja. Also a 496ho will make a fountain go 70-72 and a baja 64-66. That is according to boattest.com. Im leaning toward the fountain.
