29' single or twin looking to buy need advice

i'm browsing around for a used fever 29' minimum or a 32' possibly. what i could use is some advice on the single vs. twin setup. what kind of benefit is gained having a twin with 500's or 502's vs. the single with a 525. does a twin hog more gas at cruise? would'nt the twin need less throttle to maintain lets say a 50 mph cruise speed as apposed to the single? i'm also looking at late 1990's powerquest 290 enticers one has twin 415hp 502's seems like a nice setup to me but i'm new to performane boats. there are lots of the powerquest boats for sale in michigan not so many fountains unfortunatly.

There really is no benefit to two big blocks in a 29. Too ass heavy and a gas hog. Go with a single. If you must have twins and don't mind slowing down to about 72mph, find a 29 with a pair of small blocks (6.2's). A single 525 Fountain will run close to 80 and a single 496 powered 29 (there are a couple out there) will run about 72 as well. The twins are better for docking and will plane out much quicker.

Definately go with a single 500/525 29 vs. a twin big block 29. If you must have twins go with a 32. 32 is a very cool boat. Lots of power and they handle great. My 32 was one of the best boats I have ever owned. Lots of fun to drive and they look mean in the water with their slung down ( practicaly sinking) freeboard.

32 or an 8.8. Yep, they look fast just sitting.

The single engine 29 Fever handles and fly's much better than the azz heavy twin.

Tarheel, here on OSO had a 29 single with a 500 H.P. Pm him or maybe he will jump in. Not putting words in his mouth, but I think he liked it.

I had a 2000 29 fever witha single HP500 carb. Great boat and engine. funny thing was the carb started every time 1st try! after my accident my 29 sat for almost 7 months with out being started and it still started the 1st try!

Hey Mike, the boat still fires on first try every time. I bought your old boat off of Rodney in VA, and it looks as good as new.
