Default Thinking about Fountain 35 w/500efi Vs Hustler 344 w/525

Were there any big hull diffs between the 2001 thru 2005 Fountain 35 Lightnings. What do you think of the Lihtnings vs 344

no question the hustler the fountain is over rated and there are so many they don't hold their value as well as the hustler.

The Fountain is a better high speed hull, especially over 100mph and a much better looking boat in my opinion.

Looked at a 344 before I bought a Fountain. I don't need much room in the interior, but it seemed like the back seat in the 344 was very close to the front bolsters. I think you will find their are alot more Fountains to chose from than 344's. Bottom line go put it in the water and test them both. As far as value, I dont think the Hustler will hold it any better than a Fountain, Formula, ect. With the cost of fuel rising, you may be able to work a good deal.

What I've been told is that there have been some small changes in the strakes over the years, but '01 - '06 are essentially the same, newer models will have a higher X.

The Hustler is a nice boat, I have been out in one, it had 525's and Arnesons, not the norm, but was very impressive. It ran in the 90's but was a little loose at speed. I think the Fountain hull is more solid at speed. Try them both and go from there. Right now is a great time to be looking, some good deals out there.

I think the 35 lightning will be a more desirable piece. 34 Hustler is too small and usually gets passed over for a Slingshot. There arent that many around and you would have to ask yourself why when it comes time to sell. 35 Fountain t/s is a proven hull that many coming out of the 29 Fevers or whatever will trade up to. Its a lot easier sell in my opinion.

I have a 35 lightning with 500efi's, best boat I've owned. Gets on plane quick and at 87mph I can drive with a beer in one hand and a cig in the other. Plus the wife likes the windshield..hustler has a wind screen
