That is real nice considering my 47 with 1575 hp only did 90 on gps. I think a 38 with 700s would be the way to go. Thanks

Nice looking dash on the 42, What kind of speeds does she do with the 700s?

Driven, your 47 is alot bigger boat with more weight. Put side by side, that 47 makes the 38 look like a dingy. Had a friend once, that owned a Fountain dealership. He never put a 47 in a show next to a 42. Even the 42 looked tiny next to the 47.

Never pulled up to a 42 or 38 while in the 47. It was a big boat, probably too big for most of things that we did with it. But nothing beat that length went the seas got big in the gulf. You could do that 90 thru 3-4 footers all day long and not spill your drink.

Drvien1, The 42L's with 700's are hitting 105 fairly consistantly. My factory report had 107. The 38 is a bit faster, however the 42L handles water so much better. I owned a six digit cat before and been the fastest on the lake. These days, I would gladly give up a little extra speed for the space and ride quality.

My pictures were at cruise speed - 50mph @ 2,550 rpm's, burning 20gph per side per the fuel flow meters. This time around I wanted comfort, space and most of all, SSMVI outdrives. I just could not beat value of the 42L.

Got to love the number 6 drives. With the price of gas right now I am glad I got rid of the 47. Burned around 130 gallons an hour at full throttle. I would say burning 40 gph at 50mph is nice. I am assuming that you are allot more reliable than you were with that cat.
