I have a friend with 500efis in a ts topgun with close to 400hrs. Heads were gone through at 300 or so. Those engines run like a raped ape. I would not hesitate to buy one with 500efis. Especially for that price. If the cost was close to the same I would take the 525's, but there are a lot of reasonably priced upgrades for the 500's.

still seems like alot of money. my boss bought a brand new 2006 executioneer with 496 mag ho's, rans 80 stock outta the box for under $150k

Big difference between a TS Lightning and an Executioner. Those are both very good prices on those boats. I am surprised they are still on the market. Makes me sick when I think of how much $ I have in mine.
