My old manual compass is being replaced by a newer digital..I was just wondering if they come on w the key ? I was thinking of putting it on my dock light switch..( I don't have dock lights) just wondering if they are on all the time w the newer boats?

Mine is hard wired to the ignition. Its only on when the switch is on for one of the motors.
