You need to rename this thread....
How to accelerate REALLY FAST:drink:
WOW! That is a cool video!

convincor253 11-15-2008 06:44 AM

Awesome performance! The acceleration was as impressive as the top speed.

gnorthga 11-15-2008 07:16 AM

Thats one boat you have drive. Hand full!

Dkahnjob 11-15-2008 10:41 AM

Very impressive, and sounds cool too.

whoooly geeeezzz = Please talk some about your engine and what drive/prop are you running?

congrats!!

JimV 11-16-2008 02:23 PM

Hey thanks guy's. The engine is a 565 ci with a dart block and heads. compression ratio 10.5: 1, hydraulic roller cam with a holley tunnel ram efi. I run a stellings box with a 1.5 ratio bravo (non XR gears) turning a 30" labbed b1 four blade at 6100 rpm.

It wants to chine a little at 70 but once you drive thru it the boat settles nicely. It's a rush to drive :)

:Score-101010:Holy Szit!!How can you walk!!! With a set that Big!!!! Thats Impressive!!!!

so what horsepower/torque? how long can you safely hold 6100? how much do you think the box helped or did?

Perlmudder 11-16-2008 07:15 PM

damn!

JimV 11-16-2008 08:30 PM

The motor made 780 hp @ 6000 rpm. The box helped but I can say how much. I spent a lot of time setting up the drive height. My box is slotted with a screw jack. I noticed a difference with a quarter in change

mcprodesign 11-17-2008 01:34 AM

That is so awesume.. Looks like you took the little lip off the windscreen too.. Did that give you any speed?? Looks like a 92.. Man ..that's how they should run..Thanks for the vid.

Impressive to say the very least. How long do you feel comfortable holding 6K?? In terms of seconds/minutes?

I know the boat well, and Jim can make it fly.
She's won her class at the LOTO shoot out many times.
Great video.

If you have a forged and balanced crank and rods and pistons, a good oil coller and a big oil pan it should do that all day with no problems. just keep an eye on the oil temp

I think the tank holds 70 gallons. Cruise is not that great with the go fast prop. 3500 rpm is about 45mph

Yamaha 225 12-24-2008 03:31 PM

Seems like you have a great package there!! Do you have a picture of the Stelling box? I feel my 29 would gain more bow lift with added set back on the drives, resulting in less need for high trim angle to air out. What about your steering?? How is that mounted now?

If your 29 is non stepped I think it would help. I spent a lot of time testing props and changing the drive height. At one point I had a 2" shorty with a 5 blade herring with the propshaft above the bottom of the boat. Cool rooster tail but no speed increase.

The steering is mounted to the transom. WPM made a wing plate to accommodate the box.

That's a cool pic. I can see everything but the lower unit. lol. Do you recomend raising the X dimention 2 inches from stock?

I opened up my side vents about 1 inch . the front vent and the rear vent. It helped by 1 MPH .wasn't getting enough clean air.

Sorry about that, here is a picture of the 2" shorty (when I ran it).

Is that how she was a@ 98? Looks like it could be a B1 30.

I have a labbed 28 B1. Getting 77 GPS@ 5400. I could use some more RPM. I thought I had low compression but it was the way I checked it was wrong . All cyls. are good. It feels like the prop is being drown under water. I think it is too low in the water.

Here is the cut outs.. Can't real even tell.. The way it is stock, I can't even slide my hand in the openiing. If you look at the newer ones, the vent is a lot bigger so I figured it would help and it did.

Thanks for posting.:ernaehrung004:

Actually I sold the shorty and went back to the bravo lower with a hydro nose cone, where it is now. Yes, it is a b1 30.

Nice pictures, I modified mine too
