Default 29 Fountain Speed Question

How much HP do I need to get my single step 29 Fever to the 80-85MPH? Right now with a 500EFI I can get a best of about 73 on GPS

You will need around 600 hp, to hit 80 on GPS. 2006-2007 29's with the HP600's ran 81-83 on GPS, according to the performance sheets. We had a 2002 with a 575SCi that ran right around 79 GPS on a cold day, 1 person, very light on fuel and no one else on the lake (no wakes to cross or worry about hitting "wrong"), and light wind chop. One of my friends, who goes by Roger here on OSO, has a 29 with twin 575 hp naturally aspirated engines that runs in the mid 90's.

I have an 05 with 575. Best Ive seen is 81gps twice once with 3/4 tank 3 people 2' chop,60 degrees. The other time was 2 people 1/2 tank flat water 80 degrees. The first time I think I could have 82 and that would have been it I think. Its an 78-80mph boat all day though. Most important is cold weather and chop. To run 84-85 I know I would need to do the cooler and pulley. 650-700hp. Just my opion based off my experience.

I agree but one of the mechanics that I've talked to about doing it said $10-12,000! Too much for me!

Yeah, but that's not comparing apples to apples, is it? You are probably refeering to a full on race layup boat.

He's bragging on Trent's raceboat. Thing was kilo record holder and only weighs a little over 4500 if I remember right. Trent can approach 90 using an XZ drive (doesn't rob as much power)

You will need about 650hp and since you have an older version, raising the drive 2" will be in order. If you do that, you'll have to switch to B1 props.

Too bad you're in Cali, I could point to a guy over here in Fl that could get that 500 EFI to make over 600hp without "huffing" the engine.
