You guys have probably seen this one back in the day... It used to be mostly white with red stripes.

I have had the boat for about 2 years now... It's beel totaly stripped... and updated. I just got the boat out of paint and it is now at Lightning Bay Marine off of Gandy in St. Pete. They are going to install twin ASD8's with the large offset next week.

The only thing I do not have is POWER!!! If anyone knows of a good set of motors... they can be freash or in need of rebuild, that is ok. I just need something to work with so I can get this boat wet before summer hits.

Any comments are welcome... thanks guys.

Good looking boat. These are mine. Call me if this is something you can work with.

Great platform to get started with. Good parts inside here. Open to suggestions.

Nice job! By flat deck do you mean the old comp series? Not many of them out there, but very cool looking boats.

awesome im glad you dicided to do something with that boat, i have followed that boat for years since back when it had 3 `1000's in it. did you talk with someone with regards to the surface drives ? and how they will work on the boat. I ws just wondering about your boat the other day and whether you had sold. What do you have planned for the cockpit interior and cabin?

Thanks for the positive comments guys!!!!! Going with green was a hard decision for me... there are just so many other colors out there that look great, but you just don't see a lot of green.

Again, thanks for the comments and keep'em coming!

I sold those a while back to Larry Goldman on the East Coast... I think that he already had a buyer at the time, so they are probably long gone.

I bought a set of ASD8's from Double R Performance in Canada to replace the 6's

I love the green

Wildman_grafix 12-29-2008 09:43 PM

I think the green is cool and different, looks, good. I was also thinking old school candy gold would be a good starting point for something a little off.

aTX427 12-29-2008 10:05 PM

That is still the coolest looking Fountain ever produced. It is probably too late now, but it would be sick with a fully capped hull.

Thanks guys!!! Yes, I thought about capping it... but decided against it. Instead I filled in all of the engine venting on the sides which updated the hull somewhat... also did some major work to the engine hatches.

We molded scoops into the hatch and glassed the entire hatch (no padding anywhere)... Now the hatches are in paint and should be done next week. I will keep you updated on the progress!!!!

Also, does anyone have any idea what pitch / blade prop I should use on this thing???? Looking to use 1000hp minimum HP/TQ

Thanks again guys!

I love the old school color combos.... just don't see a lot of them out there. Here is a custom car from factory five racing... they went with the old school metallic gold / black combo... looks wild....

Why did you go from 6s to surface drives? From what I know both are excellent choices.

Very true... that is one of the few green boat's out there... it is basically a green with gold underlay (same as mine). That OL is a nice looking boat 4 sure....

You are correct... they are both great drives. This boat originally came with trip merc 6's.... I put in a fresh transom and went with the ASD 8's for a few reasons:

- Weight: the 8's weigh less then the 6's by a few hundred pounds per side.
- More speed: In my opinion, it takes less HP to turn the ASD8's then it does a full Merc 6 set up. Guys, this is just my opinion...
- Staggered Set up: To gain more speed I really needed to cut out the third motor and push the props together. If I used the 6's then I'd have to redesign the entire engine compartment... new stringers... move gas tanks...etc..etc.. Instead, I went with the 16" offset ASD8's Now, I can leave the motors all the way in the back stock location... and push the props together at the same time. Check out the pic below... same type of set up.

If you don't mind my asking, what did that complete set up cost from Arneson. I am assuming they were new?

Really cool set up. More should try it.

I believe it is around 45k to 50k from Arneson for the 16 inch offset system... you'd have to ask Rick for some solid pricing, but that is pretty close.

I can't wait to test it out!!!!! I wonder what docking a 47 with ASD's is going to be like??... should be interesting to say the least...

That makes perfect sense when you think of it. By selling the #6 setup you could also cover most if not all of the ASDs

I think the ASD8 can take more torque as well. Should throw a hell of a rooster tail.

I am counting on it!!!!!!! it will be wild 2 see what performance comes of this combination. Does anyone have a guess on top speed??

I am thinking from 1000hp to 1500hp per side.... I know this is not a step hull... but very curious to see where the numbers land. Any input?

Thanks guys...
