Exactly.

The marinas are full of boats with iron GM, Ford, Chrysler, Mercedes, etc. engines (gas and diesel), raw water cooled, that are NEVER flushed. These engines wear out after a few thousand hours, they don't rust out.

HUMMMMMM????????? good point but I promise you, Merc big blocks NEED TO BE FLUSHED, if not you will be replacing your Manifolds and headers so fast it will make your wallet hurt! maybe its away they get replacement part business.

I hate to tell u there is a big diffrents in sitting in the water or on a lift.

If u leave it in the water ,,no air gets in there so not tooo bad ,,but on a lift or trailer and u dont flush ,,,,mmmmhhhh good luck !!!

Thank you guys for all the different prospectives. I was worried about the internals more obviously, but I have noticed that sometimes the windshield frames and other powder coated parts seem to bubble.

I would definitely have a survey done, salt or no salt and closely inspect the drives. But I never gave it a thought about the lack of air if the boat is sitting in the water. Either way, I like the idea of a fresh water boat the best.
