:Whatever:A Baja is a Baja, a FOUNTAIN is a FOUNTAIN, I don't care how many you worked on, they are two different boats. Baja's are more of a production boat, nothing wrong with that, FOUNTAINS are more of a one off, most everything on, and in a FOUNTAIN is made in house, to fit and work perfectly in the boat.
Simply the fastest, and safest boat one the water..l :boat:

That may very well be. I've never been on one. A friend was going to borrow one a couple yrs ago from a dealer/friend that we 2 couples (that's 2 guys, 2 girls, ;) ) were going to take to a poker run. It had the 4 stand up bolsters. Perfect setup. But it sold beforehand.

Thanks, really like it, just waiting on the insurance to settle, which of course could take an ice age.

Thanks and keep the comments flowing.

Mike, not bashing Sunsation at all. The newer 07's -- 32SS have a higher freeboard and better ride. The problem is the length and weight. There is no substitute for length, HP, and weight. Sunsation builds a light fast good handling boat. Great for inland waters. They are located in Michigan. It would be a great boat for most any lake. It just doesn't have the weight and length to be a wave crusher. Unfortunetly they built the 43 instead of a 38. The 38 Sunsation would have been perfect.
The 43 is a great boat but priced out of the market for most. I looked at them before I bought the Fountain.

Baja is also a great inland lake boat. But it can't take the beating you will get on the Great Lakes and the ocean. I have several friends in our boat clubs with 32-36 and up Baja's and after every hard run they are always fixing something that came loose. I have lived on Lake Michigan and the gulf and have boated in both. Baja is a good started boat and you get a lot for your money. The new ones Reggie is building already are faster and better. The problem is size for size and engine for engine they are never going to handle or go as fast as a Foutain.

Dollar for dollar you can't beat a Fountain. For speed and reliability you are getting a bargain. Get as long a boat as you can afford and have fun. This will make it more enjoyable in the long run. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Thanks for the inciteful post. My 33 OL was good but like you said it beat yah pretty good. I like the new Sunsations but they are out of my price range, so I'm honing in on Fountains and Formulas right now. At least til we get a settlement from the insurance company.

I've found a bunch of both the Fountains and Formulas that I like, just a matter of finding out which ones I can get in my price range and condition etc.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. Fountain is going to give you the most overall. Speed, looks, good ride and reliability. Formula will give you a solid good riding well made boat. Get a survey before you buy. Engine and hull. It is worth the extra cost.

As you can see mine is a pleasure boat not a race boat. If I get her trimmed just right I can hit 68 mph on GPS full of fuel and pickles, just be careful if you decide to give me run I might have to open her up and put a wippin on ya.

You'll be ready to move up to a Sea-Ray soon!

Hi Mike, I have a 32 Fever I reciently upgraded with 496 H.O'S and Whipple 2.3 super chargers and drives. The Quality of the hull and hardware out lived the power units. Excelent workmanship and solid electrical wiring and hardware. You will be glad once you made the Fountain decision.

A 30 foot boat (so called 35)with no freeboard, 6' X 6' cockpit, no cabin space and 1000 total HP should go faster than 82. My 32 that is really a 33 foot boat with 180 gals of fuel and 6 big pickles still runs faster. NEXT

A 35 Lighning with 525's runs over 100.

BTW: Baja has such a long history of offshore performance victories. Hey, why don't you post them? Lets compare them to Fountains.

Tell you what "IF" your "RACE BOAT"makes it through the season and 'IF" you make it to Port Clinton race how about we each put up $1000.00 for a run from Detroit light to the islands and back. Then Baja may have its first BIG win. I know that is asking a lot as you most likely wont even finish either race or have enough junk parts around to make it that far into the season.

brian41 04-26-2009 10:23 AM

Come on DD there was no reason to delete your post I have it on Email in case you want to repost. Say what you want I am proud of my Baja just like the Fountain guy's are of there boats.

Why does some yo yo with a Baja hijack a thread from someone who honestly wants advice. Does any Fountain owner do this on the Baja forum? We all know you want a Fountain. Get a life. go play on your own forum.:grinser010::mad:

runafever 04-27-2009 08:32 AM

You can tell what kind of boat he has just by his posts on this thread. Maybe the Baja owners are insecure or something. I don't really get it.

fountain 47 sc 04-27-2009 08:43 AM

What do the last few pages of this thread even mean???

gerritm 04-27-2009 08:51 AM

I don't get it either. I would have a hard time bragging on this thread about a 32' Caliber that tops out at 68 with a load of pickle meat on it. Nothing wrong with liking your boat, whatever the brand, but give me a break. Most of the Fountian owners are talking 100 plus mph with stock engines. I have a stock 42' that weighs double his boat and I run 84 mph in most any water. Fountain envy?

brian41 04-27-2009 08:52 AM

Got your YO YO hangin. No hijack here I was just giving a Baja brother some facts about Fountains before he went to the dark side. I have yet to hear 1 of you Fountain guy's dispute what I claim other than you think your Fountains are faster and Baja's are junk.

FACTS:
1. They do have a history of sink at the docks= undisputable
2. A 35 Fountain has 30' of hull in the water= undisputable unless you stick the tape measure up a tall pipe our call the beak part of the hull in the water which would work if it sunk at the dock.
3. No freeboard= undisputable and one of the reasons they sink at dock
4.No cockpit room for the size of the boat compared to Baja= undisputable.
5. Cabin is made for midgets= Undisputable
6. In the 11 years I have run my Baja in the downriver area I have only been beat by 2 Fountains....both were race boats.

I put my stock power in a 35 Fountain the first year I owned my boat and yes the Fountain did run 2 mph faster than my Baja but when we rafted off my 32 Baja makes the 35 Fountain look like a 30.
