This guy sees one Fountain sink at Put-in bay and all of a sudden they all sink. lol. I can't remember but I will bet the one that sank was a 32 with big blocks or an older 29 with twins. Those are the only two models that were slung down low enough in the stern to possibly take on water. That is a fact Jack! This guy is all fiction and no fact.

brian41 04-27-2009 09:30 AM

Wake up........ there have been at least 2 others on this site alone including a 42 a couple of years ago on a poker run or race.
Whats with you Fountain guy's are you in some kind of denial and need professional help.

Now that we settled that how about the other FACTS come on don't be shy answer all of them.

FACTS:
1. They do have a history of sink at the docks= undisputable
2. A 35 Fountain has 30' of hull in the water= undisputable unless you stick the tape measure up a tall pipe our call the beak part of the hull in the water which would work if it sunk at the dock.
3. No freeboard= undisputable and one of the reasons they sink at dock
4.No cockpit room for the size of the boat compared to Baja= undisputable.
5. Cabin is made for midgets= Undisputable
6. In the 11 years I have run my Baja in the downriver area I have only been beat by 2 Fountains....both were race boats.

I put my stock power in a 35 Fountain the first year I owned my boat and yes the Fountain did run 2 mph faster than my Baja but when we rafted off my 32 Baja makes the 35 Fountain look like a 30.

FACT! EVERY ONE OF THE CHARACTARISTICS OF FOUNTAINS ARE ALL TRUE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 2 AND 6. #1 has two many variables to be listed as a fact( year, model, engines, service issues, etc). #6 is a fact if you say it is none of us where there so who are we to argue.

#2 a 35 has 30ft of runnning surface
#3 they do have very little freeboard on most of the older models not the new ones.
#4 Yes cockpits are very small because most are staggard engine set-up.( can't have a fast boat and a jon boat at the same time)
#yes the cabins are made for midgets. They are coffins!

You are right and many on here would agree so why the rants about how your Jon boat is so superior. Now ones cares and 4 out of the 6 of your so called facts are true! They are facts so I guess you really showed us! Leave it to the braniacs to point out the obvious to the rest of us less knowledgeable boaters on this board. Only truely ignorant people can educate us on what we already know.

brian41 04-27-2009 10:56 AM

Runafever nice turn around in 2 post from all fiction to all facts and you call me ignorant........what a douche. By the way both 2 and 6 are facts and if you Fountain guy's could read my boat does better than 68 MPH I was joking for reaction and got it.

runafever 04-27-2009 11:03 AM

Sorry meant to say 1 and 6 are not facts

Your on dope,:cool-smiley-027: you can't ever reason with you....
You put your hopped up motors in a FOUNTAIN, and the FOUNTAIN went faster than you Baja, enough said.
You just told us the FOUNTAIN was faster than you Baja with the same power. DUH !!!
Simply the fastest, and safest, V bottom boat, period.

gerritm 04-27-2009 11:35 AM

I am so glad for you that your boat will do better than 68. Even my "96 POS Baja with stock 454's would hit 70. I have owned a Baja and it was not very good quality. Quit fixating on size. Most boats are measured from bow to stern, with or with out a swim platform. If you buy a boat for cabin size, get a Black Thunder. I wouldn't even justify answering your idiotic facts. You mean a Baja has never sunk? Are you related to Triple Digits. Sound just like him. Probably running a super secret Alpha drive. Bring that Baja over to Chicago for the poker run and lets see how well it can run in big water. I know the organizers and sponsors. I am sure I can find 1 or 2 Fountains to let you run with them and see how you do. Come on down and play with the big boys in big water. After all this is an Offshore boat site. Let's also hear the racing heritage of Baja.

My 47 Sport Cruiser actually has a larger cabin than the 46 Black Thunder. (they were next to each other in the showroom when I bought my boat).
I had always wanted a Fountain but almost changed my mind when I got in all of the boats there because the cabins were so small, and I wanted a boat that I could overnight on.
I wound up with a much larger boat than I set out to buy but have been very happy with the boat. It has been a great performer so far and very little trouble.

Wildman_grafix 04-27-2009 11:44 AM

When we talk about running surface, at what speed? Look at a Baja or a Fountain when it is running and most of the hull is out of the water anyway.

Talk about a thread getting off topic,,,,,,,,,,

Are you back at it again???? If you think that reaction was good, why dont you try telling us your boat runs 100 and see what type of reaction you get, so you have only been beat by two Fountains, so have you only been beat 2 times or just 2 times by a Fountain? Gotto go check my boat to see if its still floating:drink::drink:

LAST POST ON THIS THREAD FOR ME AS I JUST FOUND THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH FOUNTAIN OWNERS (YES I AM YELLING) you all have selective reading issues. I have never posted the top speed of my boat, I gave you 4000 rpm cruise speed at 68 MPH. I did not put hopped up engines in a Fountain I put my old stock power in a Fountain.I never said Baja had a race history, I never said Fountains were slower I just said my Baja was faster than most of your Fountains. I never bashed Fountains quality I simply stated facts about Fountains that this guy should look at before buying one.

AND I DID IT ALL TO PISS YOU GUY"S OFF LIKE YOU GUY"S HAVE ALWAYS DONE TO US.

So with that being said if you happen to be in lake Erie and you run up against a Baja called LET IT RDE don't cry if it beats you just go out and buy one. :cool-smiley-027:

10K4U 04-27-2009 09:44 PM

Brian41 no offense bro but dont you think there was reasoning for Fountain taking over Baja? One was mass produced for a performance boater on a budget. The other is more quailty/performance for more money ,both awesome boats but you cant seriously compare the two in quality nor performance. What size does baja start putting hull steps at?The best thing to ever happen to baja was getting hooked up with fountain......$.02

I don't pay much attention to other brands forums, mainly because I don't own one of their boats and don't really care, but it seems to me that there is a lot of other brands, owners that just have this fascination with coming on the Fountain forum and bashing us or telling us how our boats are supposed to run, work, or it's construction and rigging. Even in giving my opinion of the Baja I owned, I don't think I bashed the brand. I don't ever remember any of us going on a Baja forum and bashing them. Again mainly because I don't care. Everyone has a right to their opinion and if you are happy with whatever brand you have, great. But it seems that Fountain is the brand that all want to compare themselves to. Funny how when you call someone out and give them a challenge to come to a Poker Run or the LOTO shootout, that becomes their last post. What are the odds any of us are going to lake Erie? Here is the view of a Fountain he usually sees.:ernaehrung004::evilb:

But......their must be some Fountains running around Lake Erie that know the boat. So either hes pretty fast, or hes never out, cause I dont see many posts from that area taking the challenge. No matters anyway, seems like the kind of guy you could never win against. You jumped the start, your boat is bigger, you engines have more horsepower, I left my fast props at home, ect. ect. ect. Well said, I never have gotten this or the beak thing. I like the look it gives the boats and when we start talking that it isn't true length, then you have to look at the bow angle, or notched transom, swim built in or not blah blah blah. Seems strange to me. Funny thing is the Baja guys I know aren't like this, I must just be lucky.

TeamTaboo 04-28-2009 10:18 AM

Maybe he needs to come to the Pirate's Run in June on Senca Lake NY. I would like to see this boat run, I will ride beside him and check his speed and report back. And I will not use the race boat, I will use the 42' lighting.

Oh yeah I forgot about crayola crazy wheres that tough guy been? lol

nomomoney 04-28-2009 11:54 AM

What I don't understand here is Brian41 is not comparing apples to apples. I have owned 6 Bajas and this is my first Fountain. The new 35 Lightning with STOCK 525 power runs over 100 from the factory. The Baja runs I think like 82 with the 525's. Put 525's in his boat and run it against the 35 Fountain and the Fountain will walk away from him no doubt about it. I enjoyed each Baja that I owned but the Fountain's rigging and build quality is by far top knotch.

gerritm 04-28-2009 12:20 PM

I run with a group of Baja owners that take great pride in their boats. Anywhere from a 22 or 24 up to 38. They have all kinds of powerplants. A good friend of mine runs a 36 with 496's and you would swear by the way he drives that the engines are much bigger. He manages to always be in the main group on any poker run. That said, and even with my 32 Baja the boats are always running at their limits. I watch how other boats run and handle, most of the Baja's are limited out, not by HP but by hull design. The hull is not made to go 100 plus, there are very few that do. Not saying that none will, but not many do especially in the shorter hulls. Fountains are made to do this. I have an '05 42 EX /525's staggered with the twin steps and weighs around 11K that will run all day at 80 plus and tops out around 84-85. My buddy and mechanic has an '05 35EX with the older style single step hull with side by side 525's that weighs 9K that tops out around 86-88. Technology and design makes the difference. I will take the stability and speed of a Fountain, knowing that it has another 20-30 mph left in the hull with bigger motors, versus a boat that is running at it's limits of hull technology and stability.

Notice that sign is sitting on the back of a 32 which did sit very low in the stern with big block power. Not all Fountains just this particlular model are the ones that have a tendency to take on a little too much h20. I repeat not all Fountain models. Personally I have owned a 32 and loved the boat.

Wildman_grafix 04-28-2009 01:46 PM

On my 32 the rub rail is right at the water line, no need for a boarding ladder.

Curious what your take on them were. In terms of stability, reliability, etc. etc. I'd probably be looking at a 31-35 '98-00 so feedback on those years is more important.

Thanks in advance.

The Fountains are a little smaller if you're comparing by length, but why not move up to a larger Fountain and get the best of both worlds? There will never be a better time to buy a boat, so buy one that will meet your future needs and is built well enough to last. Hopefully you got some information you can use before this thread went south. I have been very happy with my Fountain!

Tell you what "IF" your "RACE BOAT"makes it through the season and 'IF" you make it to Port Clinton race how about we each put up $1000.00 for a run from Detroit light to the islands and back. Then Baja may have its first BIG win. I know that is asking a lot as you most likely wont even finish either race or have enough junk parts around to make it that far into the season.

so you want to race a 32 single p4 boat which class runs 80 to 85, with your twin 32:rolleyes: gee that makes sense, brain when I am better I will race you with my 24 in the ocean , we had one of your boats here on the cape I had a 502 and he had two I KILLED HIM THEN UPGRADEED HE DID TO STILL KILLED HIM, and you must have the only baja that doesn't crack cause I have been repairing mine for 19yrs now and its going to get its floors and bulkheads done now before the konrad and 1100hp motor go in:rolleyes:
