If you have the wrong cam, the high swept pipes will not help you. If there is too much overlap, then when ideling there is a vacuum created in the exhaust and it will draw water into the engine.

Engine shot. Water everywhere. Typhoon recommends sending to Ron Potter and complete documentation and re-build (documentation because the shop that did the last re-build not 2 weeks ago may have installed the wrong CAM to create this problem. The only draw back with Potter is the travel time of the engine to Florida...Thoughts?
Gotta decide by Tuesday...

I am unfamiliar with the shops in your area, but it is possible that not much damage has been done yet if you can get someone to get it apart and cleaned up. Then re-assembled with the correct parts and new bearings and gaskets. It may not be as bad as the first rebuild was, cost wise. But time is very important. You don't want it to sit very long with water in the oil ore parts will start to rust, that is bad.

Typhoon Marine tore the engine down and it is shot!
I am considering a drop in rebuild by Joey Griffin sold thru Shogren...Any thoughts on this option?
I want to get going ASAP and would probably re-build the other as a back up.

Dan,
The best advice that I can think of is to go to a reliable shop that you trust and have them do the entire job, and have them supply all parts and etc. Be sure they pressure test the headers and all other accessories. Be sure that they are willing to take responsibility for the entire project from start to finish. That way if there is a problem you only have one person to go to and there won't be any finger pointing. Be sure they offer a complete package and warranty.

PS. The old engine rebuilt as a spare is a really good idea, since both engines in the boat have been to the same party and have the same amount of time on them.
You made need it sooner than you thought you would.

teh oil was Milky and I ended up buying a new re-manufactured engine from Mercury and installed by Typhoon Marine. installed the High Rise HP risers...Typhoon did great work for me and I am dedicated to them from now on...

Conclusion, purchased a Re-manufactured HP500 from Merc, Typhoon installed it as well as new HPRiser pipes. This solved it all...$$$$ Only took time, money and the right guys to take care of it.
