Most response are referring to the Triples being a problem.
This is probably keeping many away, but I was more interested in finding out if there is Mechanical/Electrical/Structural reasons. I know it will take some coin to get it back into service if it has been sitting for quite some time fluid service/pumps/seals/bellows/lower service. I'm not to concerned about the Triples as far as fuel goes, at least not at today's prices. I cruise around at 40mph most of the time now, but would like to have the power to get up and go when desired. I have a feeling Twin 850's will probably consume the same amount of fuel. |
Each engine with drive and all installation is pushing a ton. That's 15% of the wieght, so adds 15% to fuel burn. You are right, not really a huge hit.
I run a hundred miles a weekend, at least. 200 miles is not unusual. So just the fact its 15000 lbs instead of the 8500 lbs of my boat means doubling my fuel bill. That's a lot. I'd love the length -- size matters offshore -- but I'm glad I don't put a grand in the tank every weekend. |
If i remember correctly he bought that
boat at a bank auction, [ boat, trailer, and truck.] That was 4 years ago. The original owner was the owner of a boat company that went belly up. |
I love my 27' I can easily do a big boat but everytime I get out he calculator I can never make it make sense.

Nice boat. the 47 is like a sport cruiser. Rides like a caddy and has some speed if you need it. I am sure the colored hull sides will look great the clear water of Lake Mead. 575's will burn ruel up top, but they are not bad in the lower mid range. It is a low compression engine with good internals, so they will last a long time if you maintain them and keep them out of boost when cruising.
