whats a 97 42 fountain worth
I know of a 1997 42 fountain with twin 500 efi. Not staggered. Sits on a trailor ( not sure of the make). Boat is in excellent condition sitting in a warehouse. Boat has not been in the water for 3-4 years. Owner cant afford to run it. 200 hrs on it. Oh yeah always fresh water. He says " on the internet they are going for 80-100k but shoot me an offer" What do you guys think.

Shoot him an offer low and take it from there. If it is super clean near perfect it would retail for around 80k right now. Shoot him an offer of 65k and see what he comes back with. If it has been sitting for 3-4 years without being started etc. it is going to need a few things gone thorugh before taking her out. The cheapest I have seen one go for with hp500 and lower hours was a 96 42 foot for 60k.

No 500efi's in 1997, so the engines have been changed, I think they are better , but, some would say they are not the correct engines for the boat and year and that could affect price ---------

If it only has 500 efi's it is not going to be very fast.
I would start hitting around 50 and see where it goes. 75 is probably where it would sell after you spent the money on it.
There are 200 and 2001 staggared boats out there that have not sold yet at 100K.
Good luck.
