32 Vs 35

Mike,
You have me covered. My best was 72.1 with the Gaffrig showing 76. Now we need 27Fountain to chime in.
I know my wife always costs me 3-4 mph. If the boat were wider she wouldn't be able to reach me.
BTW, three footers are considered a great day on Lake Michigan. She doesn’t like the 4 and up days.

Well, Maybe Fever Mike does have me??? My absolute best is 75 radar freash water about 30 or less gallons fuel, Second was at Fountain full tank of gas, brackish water radar 74, that was with only 3 hrs on motor and Reggie on the sticks. Turning hydro 26 5350 rpm. Both times flat water mid summer. Both times Speedo was at 79mph. Again also the time I passed the 29s was freash water and nearly flat water. I have never put my boat in salt?? so I have no # for that. When we picked it up we were told the X dim was set a little higher, since we were running the 500efi and XR. I have nothing to compare it to so??

It sounds like you guys would be a good race. I'd be behind you two with the spray in the air and the objects being thrown from the two boats to lighten the load.
What is the weight difference between the 27' and 29'? It sounds like you both have great running boats.

I love these 27/29 and 32/35 posts that crop up about once a month. The fact is no two boats are alike. Some 27's will be a mph faster than some 29's and some 32's will squeek by some 35's. There is so much "play" in the hull/drive set up and tune of the motors that until you get out there in the wet stuff and bounce off the rev limiters you will never know for sure. I do highly suspect that no boat sold to the general public will touch the "Reggie" magazine boats that we all drool over.
Oh well, lets gas em up and let the big dog eat!

Curt,
But it's fun to talk smack!!
The only people that seem to want to race a beak boat either have bigger beaks or blower motors. There's no sneaking up on anyone with a Fountain!
Candyman35,
5500 lbs is the posted weight for the single 29'. I'm not sure about the 27'.

Hey Mike, my 91 32' has factory sheets that indicate a speed of 76 at 5,100. This is with the 502 magnums that came stock in the boat. I never saw over 69 in fresh water with those motors. I was able to outrun a lot of other similarly powered sport boats with it but I never saw "Reggie" numbers myself. I had to poor a lot of money into the motor box to reach 76. That's why I am suspicious. Adding to my suspicion are the claims of 88 out of a 500 hp 35 from the factory. It may be true but damn it's hard to believe. I'm running a couple 600's and I'm not hitting 88. I can get 85 and some change on gps in the fresh but that's it. Granted I don't have a stepped hull but jeez. Maybe your boat was set up perfectly for speed with a higher than standard X dimension and so forth. Does your boat plane easily? Mine will get up out of the water in a heart beat no matter what the load is. I definitely don't have a high X. I wish I did.

Okay Curt, whine, whine, whine! I wish I had a higher x, I wish I had a higher x, I wish I had a higher x. Hell I wish I could have two Tyler Crocket built 502's. Just joking , have a good time in Rome. We will see you next week and laugh about your lousey TRIP and 30hrs of flight time.
