OK, last weekend 5 people full tank o fuel 2 coolers. 1.0-1.5 foot chop 69.8 on gps dragging the tabs a little. today calm water slight rollers nothing big, 3 people one cooler + full o gas 71.3 gps. when water got choppy later in the day boat picked up to 73.5. boat is a 94 single step 27 with 510 with blower removed. 1.3 imco drive with 26rh rh bravo prop. 4500 rpm, all runs excep the rougher water had to stay on th stick a little. i now fountains are excelent rough water boats but does this sound right???

LESS DRAG
let say they where 2 to 3 footer's = more speed
let say 5 to 7 footer = less speed
1 to 2 footer's = less speed
most high performance v bottoms boat will run better in a 2 to 3 foot chop then in flat water or real rough water .

Yes numbers right on for a DYNO of around 500hp, I think you could gain a little more by actually dropping down a pitch in your prop and getting the RPMs up to around 5000.

i have always said, flat water is slow water and choppy water is fast water.i think water around 1-3 is about right for better speed.less drag and running serface is why.
