So i today i figured i would start working on taking the lights out of the boat and looking for new speakers to replace them with.

I took the lights out of where they were and when i removed them there was a black ring around where the lights used to be. It looks almost like a glue. It is black and very noticable on the white vinyl. I took Goo Gone to it and it did fade a little bit but it is still very apparent.

I have looked at a couple speakers to install but the only ones that will fit is an alpine and a clarion. Both are not the kind of speaker i want.

So my questions to y'all are. Has anyone had the black stuff on the vinyl when they removed the lights? If so how did you take it off? Also some people talked about the Fountain speaker covers and i didnt know where i would even look for them at? Does anyone have a picture of them? Any advice will help. I am sure some people on here have ran into the same problems. Thanks.

My stereo guys took out the lights and built a custom speaker holder that matches the purple vinyl on my seats, they also placed 2 6 1/2" speakers on each side, they did the same with the speakers in the front by your feet. Fountainfamily, call fountain factory or shrogren, shrogren wrote & told me they have them much cheaper then the factory, Ive seen the black line you speak of on my buddies boat, hopefully the speakers & cover would just cover it up as the lights did.... Have to say clarion marine speakers are actually pretty decent it's what I have n my boat! By the wAy where n cincy are you I live just north in hamilton

i put 6.5 kenwoods i got from the factory. the speakers are powdercoated to your color
