Older 36-38 Fever speeds

Curious, what kind of speeds should a straight bottom 38 fever run with a pair of 620HP motors/#3 SSM setup?? 75?80?85?

I think you know where this is going! Well, if things work out...

Ive browsed thru some old threads, and it seems the numbers are all over the place regarding speed/HP. Some guys claimed 76mph with 500HP's and bravos, 74 with 420's and TRS, 85 with 600's and bravos, etc.

I would like to think the 38 Fever was/is a much faster/lighter hull than my 402 Formula that runs 71-72 with my 620hp motors.

How did the boat Run with #4 Drives? Were they on boxes? The one in question had #4's on it. Wondering if they were too high as to not being able to carry the bow enough?

Responded to your email but thought of a couple more things. Seemed to carry the bow well. The boat was re-rigged in 2002 with 750hp motors, 1200 huber trannys and #4's, I don't believe he had boxes. In 2004 my buddy bought the boat less motors and put stock 500efi's in it.....kept the tranny/drives. He ended up with about 17 in cleaver style props which may have helped get a bite on the water. It took awhile to get on plane and threw a decent roost but seemed to carry the bow well from what I remember.....I know he felt comfort that he had a bullet proof setup behind stock motors.

Non stepped hull, depending on the X dimension with the boxes, and the pitch & style of prop you use, probably see somewhere in the mid-upper 70's I would have to expect. And, SSM III's won't work with boxes.

Frank, did you ever run yours with the #4's and no boxes or did you always have them?
