What's everyone's opinion on this Fountain with this power? I'm kinda looking @ 1 and was looking for input from those who have experience with this set-up.

Is it the one at Shogren? If so....what a beautiful boat in person. I can't speak personally about the 38' as I've never been in one but from what i've been told....great lake and intercoastal boat that will reach speeds up to 110-115 depending on load and conditions. Good luck!

I have a friend that has one with the number 6 drives and they have it running 127

Speed wise, I wonder what the delta is between the NXT vs. #6 drive is? I know the #6 is a much better/beefier drive........

I may be mistaken, but I don't think Fountain installed the NXT drive after initial problems. Most, if not all, 700SCi boats had a #6 hanging off the back. I seem to recall a problem with the skeg design on the Fountain bottoms or the bullet design. Or a combination.

We have a 07 38 with 700's bought it new from Shogren. We love our boat. Have put about 120 trouble free hours on it. All the 38/42's 700's have 6 drives on them. NXT gearcase had some handling problems in that application, also water pick-up was an issue running with an elevated X. All the 38's run 6 blade Herings for props from Fountain. Most are 17 X 39 pitch, if running a 1.5 gear ratio in the drive. Ours has run a best of 114.3. Loaded full of fuel and 5 people in 90 temps on flat water its run 110. The acceleration from 60 to 105 impressive. The boat handles like its on rails, even running over 110 the boat does nothing unusual or scary, no chine walk, it can almost be to comfortable running that fast. As far as the Ocean, I have been fishing 15 miles off shore at Myrtle Beach on a charter boat, and a 17 foot Boston Whaler was right next to us. So I guess anything can run in the Ocean if you pick your days. We run on the Potomac river and Chesapeake Bay. Dont have alot of experience running very fast in rough water so am not the best person to judge this boats capabilities. We have run in the 70's in 3-4 foot seas. The boat can do more in the hands of someone with more experience. I dont run any faster than I feel comfortable doing with passengers on board. Have been in 4-5's in the Bay when we got caught by a storm, but were not running 70! Rogers, 38 will run 127, but its had a little help from Dustin Whipple, and alot of TLC from Brian Forehand, but it just shows what can be done with the boat.
