I have always thought a collapsable ladder that used pins to mount and went over the side not the back would be nice... no drunk chicks fumbling around by the props. Especially if you have scoops etc instead of a sun pad and swim platform.

What about prop covers? Seems I've seen someone's add that was aimed at exactly this. Prop Skins or something like that. PIA to deal with but less hassle than an afternoon in the ER. Or the extended platform they put on that P1 42 with the surface drives.
Just did some looking and it's Propskin @ www.propskin.com. They are made from a neoprene and do show being used in the water. Have a rust proof zipper and all, and have contact info for custom logos!

I had also the stainless tubes coming up (cup holders) that are a pain if you slip off the transom in the drive and cut your hand wiiiide open on the props to miss them!
Also slipped off after pulling out of the water. Friends helped aand left when the back cover was snapped , I waved bye and then fell to miss the drives but landed across the drive guard. Nothing broken. woke up in the bilge water puddle.
FYI had exhaust over the transom with CMI flow through mufflers to trip on.
Thought I might say going down is as bad as coming up.

We have the same problem. We boat to a local gathering place called Fairview Beach. Everyone anchors, gets out of their boat and walks around. Nice sandy bottom, but the water is so stained or dirty on the Potomac you can't see 2 feet below the surface in the summer. With our 6 drive boat the drives extend out 3 feet past the swim platform. Even if you trim them all the way up you can see the tie bar but not the cavatation plate. My wife keeps an eye on the back of the boat she is very worried that someone will get cut on those Herings. We usually anchor out in very deep water where no one else will walk up behind it or get out and go into very shallow water away from our boat. You still have the problem of getting in and out of the boat though. Mostly raft up with friends and if we get out, climb into their boat and go up and down their swim ladder.
