Dash Upgrade....
I am replacing all guages, switches, throttle controls, the steering wheel and the dash panel on my 98 fever. I got a quote from livorsi for all parts needed and the total came up to about $4700. Now being in the car business I know how bad parts are marked up and I think its probably safe to say boat accessories/parts are marked up even more. Does anyone have any advice/sources to get everything I need/want for a little cheaper? I know these toys are expensive but man I had a little sticker shock when I saw that....

To be honest with you that's not a bad price....this was $5K a few years ago

I re-did my dash last winter......this cost under $1K
BUT, I re-used my gauges with new bezels, same throttles, installed GPS I already had. New wheel, bezels, and all panels that were made by the factory supplier. |
I am doing mine and the most expensive will be the shifter/throttles.
Best price I found was at http://www.topnotchperformancemarine...home.php?cat=0 I am painting the dash panel myself, sent the gauges in for new bezels and glass. ($343) Won't be to bad when I am done. |

You can send your existing gauges to Livorsi and they can change out the rims for next to nothing. The throttles can be taken apart and chromed or powder coated and there are places you can send the dash plate for a carbon fiber look or have it custom painted. This should be much less expensive than buying all new components, but will require a bit more effort.

I also considered that for my dash plate, but what about all the labels?
They give u a new panel. You keep your old one. See above for redoing your gauges I just got mine back about 1 week ago. |

Livorsi is doing mine next year. Twin motors was about 3 grand for all new gauges and switches. Shifter was another 1500 and steering wheel like 3-500. Also that included livorsi cutting a carbon fiber panel and fitting everything along with laser etching the wording.
|
They are going to laser mine.

The shifter were expensive but what about those stupid little white switches???? I think I had like $400 worth of those ha.
|
Top notch gave me a lower price for Livorsi shifters then Livorsi. They also had the best price on trim rings.
http://www.topnotchperformancemarine...home.php?cat=0 GAFFRIG PERFORMANCE gave me a good price IF I needed to change all the gauges, you may want to check with them. My gauges just needed new rims and glass, plus the pointers were faded on the TACHs and speedo so I didn't need new ones. I talked with Mike Schultz |

Hey that's my boat! That's probably not too bad of a price when considering the parts and the labor involved. I took the old dash, gauges, and throttles and sold them on OSO or ebay to offset some of the cost. It helped a bunch. RAf |

It came out real nice. Might as well do the port side while you are at it though.

Just some paint and another GPS mounted in the glove compartment. The second GPS is not that expensive because you can use the puck off of the starboard dash and do not need to add a second. You can do the other side for around a few hundred.

If so, I'd be interested to know how did you paint it exactly. I don't think laser etching can be done on any kind of painted alloy - or am I mistaken? |

Do you mean on the dash panel which you painted yourself?

Does anyone know where I can buy the small indicator lights at?
I have a couple that were out. |
The little red lights? Bought mine from Livosi.
|
Yes, thanks Jerry.
Seen Scott at the boat show, sounds like you are going all out on the baja, can't wait to see it. |

If you repainted and re-labelled the panel, I'd be interested to hear how you did that exactly. I'm thinking to do the same with mine. |

Wondered that myself when I bought it. Odd part is they installed the transducer and ran the wiring when they built the boat, makes you wonder why they didn't just finish it. Probably cost near as much for the fancy little plug as it would have for the actual gauge. Guess Reggie looks at them the same as I do, If you don't have one you will never know you were somewhere you shouldn't have been. Maybe that's why he keeps raising the X on the boats! :D |
