Default Buying a Fountain

Just waiting for it to come out of storage. 2002 29 Fever with a 575sci. Only 180 hours on the boat. Can’t wait to take it out for a ride. Last 2 boats have been Checkmate's. Don’t have a bad thing to say about them, both were very reliable.
Just worried about the XR outdrive handling the power. I know to take it easy out of the hole but that motor has a lot of torque.
Hope to go get it next week and maybe get a quick ride before the long tow home. Motor has a chiller and dart heads with only 20 hours on the motor. Been wanting a Fountain for a while now, my buddy had a 29 running around 750hp and the drive was the weak link. Helped him rebuild the drive a couple of times (standard bravo) and diesel gears held up the best.
Fountains are fast boats and it has a lot of room in the cockpit for it's size. Should be great for the river.

I had a 27' with 700hp. I had IMCO put the xr gears in my bravo and they held up fine. I did take it easy on the start and pulled the throttle back when in the air. You should be fine. Just change the oul and don't be stupid.

Sounds like I'm going to pick it up next week Saturday. Can't wait! The motor was put on the dyno and was 700hp @ 5,500 rpm's and 680 lb/ft torque. Should run pretty good. Owner said 85mph on GPS. Seen several people claim 85mph with their 29 with the stock 575sci.

My 575sci hits 82 at best. Save yourself alot of grief, sell the Bravo and and go Imco SCX upper and SC lower. Wish someone would have given me that advise 2 years, 2 Bravo XRs and 2 Teaque Platinums ago.

Yep, that's the boat. Dart heads... Sounds like the owner took good care of it. With 700 horse it should run 85. He just had the motor done by Tyler Crockett and now has only 20 hours on it. Just confirmed next Saturday pickup.
I live in Michigan and think I might go through Canada but unsure if that is a good idea pulling my boat over and bringing that one back. Don't want them to tear things up at the border if they are having a bad day.

Google maps show it to be 2 more hours each way. Don't know if the possible hassle at the border would be worth shaving a couple hours.
Have never heard a 575sci run. Heard and worked on several blower motors but not efi. Do they have a lumpy idle? I'm guessing they don't have the surge at idle like the carb motors?
Did a search on cam spec's and can't find any details on that motor other then it is a flat tappet design. Cam was changed during the rebuild but not sure if it is a stock 575 piece. It is going to be a long week of waiting!
