Took it for a good run before i pull it apart. Ran great ,the drive height on theses 3a's are very high. It needs new props so i need to figure out whAT i need . Right now it has 15.5 -29 three blades. Boat runs very flat .The first thing is the props are to big maybe a 27 and the second is I think a four blade would be the way to go. Any suggestions ? here is a vid.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jm432GGWzE:coolcowboy:

Cool new project. I like your taste in paint jobs!

I noticed your trailer doesn't have a front pedestal, I would invest in one before you start to put a hook in the bottom. Great looking boat, keep us posted with the upgrades.

[How far below the bottom are your propshafts]
THE SHAFTS ARE A HALF AN INCH BELOW THE BOTTOM. |
It's hard to tell from the pic, but are there any spacers between the upper and the lower unit ??? It looks like there may be a 1" spacer in there, if there is, then take it out. You may need to get the shorter studs to do that.
|
No there is not a spacer. I really want to try a set of four blades for the boat. Like a set of 16.5 x 26. boat juat runs very flat. I was goint to try to spin the props in next.
|
Wow, 1/2 inch below the bottom with IIIs! Doesnt look like your transom is notched either? Those drives look like the regular early style ssm III. I believe the new style III, and IIIA had the crescent shaped lowers. 10x would prob know better than I on that.
Either way, I bet some four blades will help. Its probably runnin flat because the drives are so shallow and no extension boxes. Not enough leverage to carry the bow. The 38 Fever i just bought has ssm IV drives, with the propshafts about 2" below the bottom, no boxes, but notched transom. I havent got a chance to run it yet, but i do know it had large diameter 4 bladesVideo looks good though! Good luck with it, love them old 10 meters |

Do you know what drive ratio you are running ?? If you spin the props in, you'll get more bow lift. I would defineatly try the 4 blade props. Probably want to run the drives trimmed out about 2 numbers positive from wherever zero is. You might want to try running a little less tab too. |
