I don't quite understand why it is but on my buddy's 47 Fountain the center engine just hummed along throwing a roost until about 70-75, then the tail laid down and stayed that way until 90. Maybe because of the stepped hull not allowing good water to the prop? You could throttle up the center motor any time and bang the rev limiter with ease, but not get a whole lot of speed change so I guess it was creating quite a bit of slip (with 5 blade Herrings)

Does anyone know where to pick up these hatch rise arm locking knobs and if those are correct for my boat? I'm not having any luck on-line finding them and the ones in the boat are missing.

I have a 1998 29 Fever and those are not the same as mine, the knobs in mine actually have a female end instead of the male end that you are looking at. Could be different tho I guess....

Eddie, mine had the female end in them also...a short or long term fix is just stop at a harware store and buy a wing-nut..it worked for me....just my .02

I'll post a picture of them after the weekend, right now they are just studs sticking out of the arms. So the wing nut idea would work, thanks.

I have a triple engine fountain and I think there is more load on the center engine at equal trim for a few reasons:
1) at equal trim and throttle, the middle engine runs lower rpm and uses slightly more fuel
2) this can be overcome by trimming the middle motor slightly further out.
3) it runs slightly hotter when trimmed equally which can also be overcome by trimming out a little in comparison.
4) on the trailer with equal trim settings, the middle drive is slightly lower than the side drives and below the keel of the boat at trimmed in setting.

I love triples. There is much less load on each engine and drive. I cruise a lot in the 50's and the engines run cool and easy all day. Big power twins and #6's or the new #8 surface drives would probably be better for speed and balance if you run at full throttle a lot but I really don't boat that way very much.
You have a great looking boat. Enjoy!
